Hello
i'm an usual korg user and finally have registered here

i have bought in second hand a sv1
a fantastic keyboard
everything is perfect but i notice there's more background noise (fffffffffff) when turning on th AMP section
happens only in AMP, in every sound, every preset
other sv1 users tell me that they even cançt hear noise in their keyboards
i thought it was the valve, but i changed it and happens the same

i have recorded this example in my studio
http://www.hispasonic.com/index.php?controller=forum&action=view_attachment&attachment_id=167162

in the sample:
1-epiano without amp
2-epiano with amp
3-pieno without amp
4-piano with amp

anyone can help me?
is this normal? i think not
how can be fixed?

thanks

Hi there,

I'm not sure but it sounds to me like maybe on your effects settings you have either the compressor or the limiter settings making the noise come up after the actual sound starts to fade. You can do one of three things....

Firstly, check what other effects are doing in conjunction with amp sim to see if changing those makes a difference.

Second,, If you are not really attached to the sounds you have already you could do a factory reset which would put all presets including effects back to there original settings and then see if that makes a difference.

Third.... hook your sv1 up to the PC editor and check the settings for the various effects and tweak to lose that hiss.

Just my thoughts but that's what I would try.

Hope that helps.

Hello again
Thanks wayne
a minute ago, i've tried all this and i tell you:
1- the background noise is independent of any effect
2- i've made a factory reset, happens the same
3- the noise happens independently of what i do in the pc editor
well, when i turn down the noise gate, not only sounds when i play, instead happens even in silence

so, i keep having the problem

such a expensive piano
such a good idea
such a bad result

Hi there again,

Right ok, that doesn't sound so great then.
You mentioned you had the valve changed?

I have read on other posts that this has to be done by Korg as the valve has to be 'calibrated' to work correctly within the sv1.

Was it changed by Korg and if so I'd give them a call, if not then maybe whomever did change it can contact Korg and find out the correct 'calibration' and rectify.

Don't give up on it dude, it IS a great piece of kit (warts and all) and with a little bit of luck I'm sure you won't regret it.

Good luck

Regards

Wayne

I have the similar noise on my SV1 and that's actually very annoying. The noise is definately from the AMP, you can hear when the noise kicks in and out.
My guess was also the old tube but if it doesn't help... (although changing the tube seems to be not an easy work)

Do people not have those noise?

I hear the white noise in the SV1 73bk in the store. I thought it was in all the SV1's, but now this thread has got me thinking it's not.

Perhaps I need to check out another SV1?

Another place to check is in the Editor software, adjust the 2 gain knobs and the NR Sens knob which is noise reduction. If those knobs are not set right the amp could have the white noise.

If anyone has an SV1 without this noise - it would be good to know.

I know, it's an old thread, but for anyone else who might come upon it in a search, there may be useful info in post #2171005 at http://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2170151/Korg_SV_1_How_to_remove_noise_
