|
|
a) When you have recorded a song in sequencer mode, and before it has been saved to any particular drive, does anyone know if the data to be saved is held temporarily in the sample RAM?
b) Is the sample RAM increased in size if you install an EXB-M256 expansion board?
c) If nobody knows the details of the RAM and data storage processes, can anyone suggest who I might contact to answer this kind of question, perhaps at Korg?
Thanks in advance

Hi John
a) No - sample RAM is not used for songs
b) Yes - the 256MB chip is for sample RAM
Hope this helps.

Great, thanks.
So, I suspect that I am running out of memory space (I am losing bass and drum tracks when saving) when trying to save songs. Do you know where the data is held before saving, and how I might create more space in that location?
Thanks again

Losing tracks at save time doesn't sound correct... so the tracks are there and play but you lose them when saving the song?
I'm sure there was a spec somewhere about number of sequencer events - but I can't locate it.
You may have to "save" then clear some songs to make room, then save again etc....
Cheers

I tested if the data was being lost in the process of saving a song to the internal flash drive (I have the smaller keyboard without a hard disc installed). However the tracks had been dropped before the save process. In the user manual it states that after recording and before saving, new recordings are 'converted to an ordinary Song'. So it would appear that the loss is happening during or before that process of conversion. I tend to record quite complex songs with different styles, and different drums, bass and keys for, e.g. the middle eight and chorus. So i tried simplifing the setup and making no changes to the sounds and styles. This seemed to remove the problem. However, it means that the recording are much less interesting and rich It still appears to me to be be some kind of memory/storage capacity limitation at the sequencerquick recording stage. What do you think?
thanks
