Hi, I just updated my Kross to 1.03, and after cycling the power as instructed, it is now stuck on the "Kross" startup screen. It starts up and all functions work, the display just stays on the Kross screen.

Anyone had this problem or have a solution?

Thanks

UPDATE: Initializing the system did nothing to fix this; the screen just stays on the startup screen. All the sounds are initialized though, as expected.

Reapply the update... and if it still does not work, try a previous firmware if you can. If the problem persists => SAV

I don't think I can do that without the screen working, unless it's possible over USB with the editing software. What does SAV mean?

If you cannot reapply the firmware, you have followed the firmware guideline, and the kross does not boot as expected => Kross support.

Be sure you don't have a wrong SD card plug in the kross before calling Korg support...

I have tried several different cards. formatted as fat32. downloaded firmware file by korg usa. it does not work
now I dialed Thomann in Germany where I bought it, and they are starting to see if they can resolve the issue.

Remove the SD card before power on your Kross.
Try to reset the KROSS:
- Kross is OFF
- Press touch EXIT+8 (and maintain the pressure on the both)
- press the power on button

If nothing happens => Korg support (or Thomann)

hey, if it's just the screen that's frozen, and everything else works, maybe i could list down the buttons that you need to press to "blindly" do another system update?

i suggest downloading a new update file from the korg website and replace the one currently on your SD card. that way, we can eliminate the possibility that the update file you initially installed was corrupted. Smile

i will post the instructions here as soon as i get home and boot up the kross.

here are the steps:

1. turn the kross on.
2. wait for about 16 seconds for the system to initialize.
3. press Global/Media once (the button should light up).
4. press Function button only once.
5. press Arrow Down at least 4 times (it's ok if you press more than 4 since the options do not cycle back to the top. the Update System Software is the last option in the list).
6. press the Menu button (equivalent to OK) 3 times.
7. wait for a few minutes for the update to complete. i'm not exactly sure how long the update takes since i bought mine with v1.03 already installed. perhaps the others who actually did their update could chime in.
8. power off, then power back on.

i hope this helps.

I have a question regarding the topic. A user from Ecuador updated the Kross and after reboot stucks on Kross screen unable to access the menu and functions.

Is on Kross a recovery bootloader to update again the flash memory firmware or the only solution is to replace the entire motherboard ?
