According to various sources Ikutaro Kakehashi died today, founder of the Roland company.
Only recently I bought his latest book, 'An age without samples', and he comes across as a very insightful and intelligent man whose entrepreneurial spirit left us with a great, rich and diverse legacy of music instruments.
May he rest in peace, and I hope the current Roland company will continue in the same spirit as Mr. Kakehashi.

Ikutaro Kakehashi's many contributions to the world of music just shows what a person can become. He not only created Roland Cooperation he also created MIDI working with Tom Oberheim & Dave Smith, and got Yamaha, Korg and Kawai to accept it. What an amazing man... my Condolences to his loved ones and everyone at Roland.

Just a few days before Roland celebrates its 45th Birthday

A remarkable man, walking his own road,..
The man that did not give us Music but the tools to make it.
Lets just hope that in his honor his love baby Roland may never die
May he rest in peace.
