I have a combi I made for it but won't be in front of my K until tonight. I'll look at it then. _________________ Voyager, A Tribute to the Music of Journey https://www.voyageraz.com

Had a rehearsal last night and played the song. My combi is basically a blend of a Polysix synth (think Sep Ways) with a slightly modded German Grand set lower in the mix for percussive attack. _________________ Voyager, A Tribute to the Music of Journey https://www.voyageraz.com

Next time I get in front of my K I will try to upload it. I've never exported a Combi to USB before. I need to read the manual and figure out how that is done. If that is a headache I'll just take notes of the individual patches (only 2 of them) and the levels. _________________ Voyager, A Tribute to the Music of Journey https://www.voyageraz.com

Hi,
I didn't realise the work involved. I wouldn't want to cause you any hassel. I will have a play and see if I create anything. I'm still a Kronos newbie!

It's no biggie. I can save the combi to USB but my K is at my bands studio and I won't see her again until Monday. I will save it down for you. In the meantime if you want to try your own version start with a mix of Polysix Synth with Acoustic Piano and have the piano be lower in volume than the synth. That will get you close. _________________ Voyager, A Tribute to the Music of Journey https://www.voyageraz.com

Hey there - thank you. I just joined a Journey tribute and have been wondering how to make this work. Polysix + Piano works pretty well, just need to find something crisp for the top.
You rock!

This is a such a fun song. It's a great excuse to use the convenient Quick Layer feature to create your combi. Just go to Program mode and select a good bright piano for the Main sound. Then select the blue Quick Layer button at bottom of screen. For the other Layer program, something like Unison Stab Saw works well. (It needs to have a quick release, like VH Jump rather than Separate Ways.) Adjust octaves and levels and write combi.
Set the Control Assign to be Timbre/track then save again, so it defaults to this when selecting and playing the combi. This allows you use the panel buttons to turn on/off only the synth timbre layer during the appropriate song sections. |

Done and thank you.
I'm also trying to build 'Be Good To Yourself'. I'm quite positive that the Kurzweil 2600 series has a sound at 776 called 'Piano Chase' that would be PERFECT for this song, but I already carry a stupid amount of gear to every gig and would rather not put mine in yet another 4U rack for one sound. Ideas there? Piano + bright EP just sounds cheesy.
