We are a band, currently using MainStage for playing our drums and synths + samples live at gigs (apple laptop directly to board). We now have a new Kronos, and we have loaded all our studio recorded sound files (drums + synths + samples) into the kronos on different channels. By means of this we can play them live, using the setlist by just selecting each song and play directly to the board of the PA (two channels / XLR output.

In order to control the sound of each of these channels on the PA-mixer/board we would like to send each of these channels (about 10) via the audio-interface (focusrite saffire 40 + octopre) to the board.

is it possible? Can the multiple channels of the Kronos be sent to multiple output via audio interface?

Many thanks for your reply!

Cheers,

Peter

You have 6 analog outputs on the Kronos that you can route individual tracks to.

So you may have to combine for example, the rhythm section (drums, perc., and bass) on the stereo L/R bus, Live parts out of Individual 1, other stuff out of 2, BVs and pads out of 3/4 in stereo... Or run everything mono; that gives you your 6 discreet outs.

I'm not at the Kronos right now, but I'm half sure you could get another stereo bus out of the SPDIF out into the Focusrite - and another to USB out into your Mac. Not sure if that would help routing to your mixer, though. Depends on the whole routing thing.

So, yes, it's possible to let your sound guy do more live mixing, for sure.

If you're asking if the Kronos can use an external audio interface via its USB ports, the answer is no.

However, as Adam said, you can use the six analog outputs and the S/PDIF output pair on the Kronos, so that gives you eight channels you can route individually if you're so inclined. You can't really effectively use the USB route that Adam mentioned because it's simply a copy of whatever goes out of the main L/R mix. Also be advised that whatever the Kronos "MFX" processors generate (like reverb, chorus or delay, usually) will come out of the Main L/R outputs and the TFX outputs are also hardwired into that signal path.

Many thanks guys for helping out. Appreciated! Wanted to get back earlier on this but had to prepare and play our gig today. Actually, that is what I was afraid of, the limitation of the outputs on the Kronos. In that case, we will either keep on using the Laptop + MainStage, or integrate a digital mixer with hard disc.
