Hi -- I'm doing some midi event editing on a piano track, and generally
I'm getting on fine. However, sometimes when I insert a note I can't
get it to sustain at the particular pitch I want it: no matter how I set the time duration box it just stays very staccato. But if change the pitch of the note it
sustains fine. Any suggestions please?

Not sure I can help you since more info might be needed.

you are in SEQ mode ? what is the screen tab name ? Which sustain pedal ?
What are your pedal settings in global ?

Anyway, just guessing. Maybe select a separate midi track ( assuming you are recording/SEQ) for your note correction.

I typically multi track the same AP program in a Song.

Hi -- thanks for your reply. I don't actually use a sustain pedal. I record the piano part for a song onto a midi channel (in sequencer mode) and then go to midi event edit in the track edit widow to tidy up and modify if needed. Sometimes I'll want to add an extra note here and there, and this usually works fine -- I just use "insert" and then select the pitch and the time duration. But for some reason I occasionally get the problem I've described.

Are you duplicating the inserted note perhaps? As a pitch change seems to fix it then it's not a polyphony issue, it sounds more like conflicting MIDI information for 2 notes of the same pitch - if you can find the 'older' note and cut that then the inserted note should sustain - it's a 'workaround' as opposed to a real fix and I'm surprised this issue still occurs, but I have come across it before in older sequencers.

I think your problem might be that you have a previous note that is programmed to play past where the note in question is.

For example:

If you have C6 playing on beat 1.000 and lasting for 3.000 . . . .

but you then program a C6 to play on beat 2.000, that one should end up sounding like a staccato.

Basically, you confused your Kronos!!
