|

Hi Friends,
I am using Sonar X3 connected to my Korg PA 300 and I am trying to create midi songs.
I already mixed 4 tracks for different instruments and playback sound is coming out from PA300 and I am following procedures recommended by Korg and by cakewalk.
Just one thing regarding the channel 10 when choose it in PA300 and in Sonar I can't here any voice for the drum kit I choose.
The Input channel in Donar is not receiving any data from PA300.
I am reading about drum kit maps.
Do I have to use a drum kit map, and how I can edit such big map manually, is there any way to import drup kit maps as a file or by any other ways.
Thanks and have a good day

I don't have an answer for your question.
I've been using a DAW with a PA600 for some time, it can be kind of quirky because there's so much going on and you really have to watch what you're doing.
I sync the PA to the DAW(studio one) then send it chord changes to guide the style play. Then I solo the instrument I want and record the audio output into S1. So I pretty much work in studio one and just use the PA to compose bass lines for me.
There's no limit to how many ways you can go about using the combination.
But I can crash the PA if I'm monitoring the guide track and certain things happen. I think it's a type of a midi loop.
Like to hear more about how you use the two together. _________________ PA600 Studio One3 |

Thanks Tacman7 for your reply.
I connect PA300 to Cakewalk Sonar, sync channels for both the PA and the software to have the same instrument and then record tracks for different instruments and play them together, like Flute with Strings and a tough of Piano.
I know from before that channel 10 is used for drums but when I assign my recording track to channel 10 no drums signal can reach the software from my PA as if something is preventing drums data from reaching the software.
Then I found something called drum kits maps that need to be imported to the software in order for the software to recognise the kind bad of drums played.
But this drum map is so hard to edit manually in the software and I don't think composers do this when using sequencer softwares.
In the 90s there was not such drum kit map.
I don't think modern technology make it more difficult.
Thanks

That's stange! Usually sound/drum maps have nothing to do with the midi note itself. They're pretty much used for assigning a new sound or drum kit to a track within a DAW. _________________ Sam

I don't know if you're talking about audio or midi sometimes.
You're all midi? Do you route the PA audio into Sonar with an interface?
Page 155 of the reference manual shows the midi outputs and what you can do with them: Most of them (like ch 10) are off as default.
Channels
You can assign to each channel one of the following tracks:
Off No track assigned.
Lower Keyboard’s Lower track.
Upper 1…3 One of the Keyboard’s Upper tracks.
Pad 1…4 One of the Pad tracks.
Drum Style’s Drum track.
Percussion Style’s Percussion track.
Bass Style’s Bass track.
Acc 1…5 One of the Style’s Auto-accompaniment tracks.
Ply Tr 01…16
One of the Player tracks.
Chord Use this channel to send notes recognized by the
Chord Recognition engine to the MIDI OUT and
USB Device port. This is useful, for example, to
control an external Harmonizer from the Pa600,
using the Lower track to play chords, even if the
track is muted. _________________ PA600 Studio One3 |
