|
|
Hello and thanks for any information you might share.
After my last gig I noticed two adjacent keys making a metal clicking sound. Opened up the Kronos to find a small felt piece had broken off.
I'm wondering if there are replacement parts available and where to get them to refurbish my Kronos 88? In particular, there is a band of felt stops (2) that basically prevent the key weight from slamming against the metal key bed chassis. I've fixed it temporarily by siliconing it back into position to get me through the next couple of weeks, but I'm thinking it would be best to replace those felt stops from bottom to top key. Also the thin, paper dust shield located where the key face enters the chassis is pretty well beat up too and should be replaced at the same time if there's a replacement piece for the too.
Any information I'd greatly appreciate. I just love this keyboard. It has served me well. But I admit to being a very aggressive player at times and it has taken it's toll.
Thanks you guys!
Respectfully,
John

The part number and description for the 88 Key Felt strip is:
500550023531 X09132 KB FELT F41629-2
I can't see any dust strip on the drawing - it may be the VJS Strip although that could be shielding; it's not shown, only listed with mechanical parts, a bit ambiguous I know but maybe a term you could use in an email? - EDIT: VJS is the Vector Joystick - ignore that, the strip will be the copper band between connectors - sorry)
Unfortunately I can't help you locate the specific felt but that's the part number for it anyway. I'm sure the guys here can direct you to places (one is guitar parts I think - yeah, guitar lol). Otherwise Google Korg Kronos spares and maybe contact them for help.
There are a few vendors of Korg Keyboard parts but I remember having real trouble getting the right felt for my Trinity - in the end I just bought piano felt and cut it to size - it did the job. I used double-sided aircraft tape from 'RS components' to affix it otherwise some glue's could harden it by being absorbed into it.
Hope this helps. |

Thank you Shmooster and yes this does help. I googled the part number and the info came right up. Now running down exactly where I can get a couple strips of that very same rubberized felt is a bit of a trick. I suppose I could use a different self adhesive felt as long as it's of the same dimensions. Now I wish I'd measured that felt strip when I was inside the Kronos last night. If I have to I'll open it back up and get those dimensions which are probably pretty important. Here's what I found for third party felt manufacturers that might do the trick.

Thanks for the info! |
