|
|
I downloaded Gadget LE to give it a try on my iPhone SE and it seems almost unusable because of the tiny display...the accuracy of touching controls is so poor. My first impression is to forget about actually buying the full app since I can't imagine being able to create anything with it.
So here's the Qs:
-- Any iPhone users care to coment about how they use Gadget or is is this truly only for iPad users?
-- Since LE strips out the Ableton export feature't try it I can, does this work the same way as it does for iKaossilator (which I have)?
-- Will any class compliant MIDI keyboard work over a Lightning to USB cable or is iOS compliance above and beyond (since I don't own any recent keyboards)? _________________ I sing the body electric |

I can answer the last question about midi keyboard connection. Any keyboard with USBMidi should work with the Camera Connevtion Kit from Apple or something equivalent. I can use Gadget with my Korg Pa3x. It's not an app I really make much use of since my main interest is quality sounds and not loops and recording. _________________ Free SoundFonts: https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/

First question
- I'm having more trouble using this forum than gadget lol!
I'd say there are better GUI's on iPhone but nothing really has the quality of sound or variety of options than gadget that I'm seeing
I used nanostudio extensively for many years but gave up waiting for nano2 and latest iOS update will stop running NS so hand was forced - get used to gadget GUI & tbh, not too bad _________________ http://Instagram.com/voodoosharkrecordings |

I use it on my iPad. I also have it on my iPhone 5S but it is pretty unusable. Too small.
What I want to find is a decent keyboard controller. I haven't really looked at any yet although I have briefly touched a few Roland things and the keyboard feel was absolutely horrible. I need to have at least full sized keys and I'm totally fine with something like the feel of my King Korg.
Any recommendations? _________________ If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!

I use Gadget on SE and yes, it is hard to program (unfortunately Korg doesn't provides feasible option to program on iPad and then transfer to iPhone), but I still use Gadget for live rehearsals - and for that it is rather good once programmed as needed. The only issues limiting my Gadgat use are:
1) projects are not truly transferable between iPhone/iPad versions (at least with Darwin and custom sounds engaged they don't sound identical)
2) no audiounit support
3) if you swap your midi controller you have to reassign midi for every project and every track - there are no global midi routings with controller proxies.
If korg ever solves those mentioned above - Gadget would be my first and only choice... until then I'm working with other tools as appropriate. |
