Hello.

I have a problem with my Kronos X73.

When I turn off Kronos and then turn on, i see the Kronos logo (for 0,1s) and then nothing. Black screen, and Kronos is dead (power button still ON).

Next, I switch power button OFF, 10 sec., switch to ON, and the same! Shot of Kronos logo and nothing more...

After 5,6 try Kronos is starting correctly and works good, and long.

I bought an used one. First thing i update from 3.0.2 to 3.1.2.

After update i have this problem.

I tried 3,4 times reinstall 3.1.2 system.

Any Ideas?

Since you suggested that the cause was the OS update, go back to 3.0.2

If it works 100% consistently, on 3.0.2, at least you do not have that frustrating start up problem

I also suspect its a buggy 3.1.2 OS update. After your Kronos stabilizes, you could try a new 3.1.2.

it could be a latent hardware issue. Given what you posted , I would try to go back to 3.0.2, to troubleshoot what is going on

I installed OS 3.0.2 and problem still exist Sad

I noticed one thing.

When i work on Kronos, turn it off and in few seconds turn on, it does't start... But when i work on Kronos, turn off and wait a long while (about 3 min or more) it often starts correctly.

This's points more to the hardware?

ok, thats good trouble shooting. IMO, you proved the issue has little to do with an OS update.

If you google the forum, you will read several hardware troubleshooting steps.

You will need to place your Kronos upside down ( on cushions, carefully) and remove the bottom cover , about 20 wood screws.

From there, you can see the RAM sticks on the mobo. Reseat them, and check your cable connection for tightness.

Before you do this, you might push back at your seller for selling you a problematic Kronos. But that is your call, as you know about that arrangement.

I changed my RAM memory and it doesn't fix it. Probably in my house, there is unstable electric current. Is it possible that this is an reason? Things happen randomly.

Grid fluctuations do not affect PSU (SMPS) of Kronos , only discontinued grid power supply where a UPS is needed.
It looks more like SSD system files data corruption , but also try to un-plug/plug SSD SATA 2 red cable from
motherboard, I've noticed it once in a customer's case.
Also all of you note the "gold" rule of updading OS : Never Update OS without UPS support !
In fact , this is the case of the critical use of a UPS !

I tried to reinstall from DVD's. It doesn't work Sad. This is weird, that it's a problem with booting, but if the booting is correct, My Kronos may works even 100 hours.

If i turn off and immediately turn on, it doesnt run. But if i turn off and wait 5-10 minues, Kronos often boot correctly.

Maybe i try run my Kronos in other place. I suggest, that in my house there is some kind of problem with electric current. (Other devices like Mac's, TV, Hi-Fi, Kitchen) works correctly...)

Can it be a problem with power supply?

Video shows another thing that you didn't mentioned !
My dear friend your Kronos PSU (SMPS) model "Enhance ENO-1612" (Chinese manu) will completely fail soon ,
this is the first symptom ! so do not deal anymore with other software or hardware failure issues !
At that time you will visit official korg service !

Hi Antony, I have the same problem on my KX that I bought one month ago Sad

Do you know if it is possible to buy this spare part, or find a compatible PSU? I did a quick search but did not find anything useful.

Try this first http://www.enhanceusa.com/webe/html/products/show.aspx?num=90&kind=55&page=1
Another great and cheaper solution is to use and adapt inside Kronos a 12V PSU and a PICO mini-ITX 120-160W power supply.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pico-ATX-Switch-PSU-Car-Auto-Mini-ITX-High-Power-Supply-Module-12V-DC-160W-24Pin-/151795922578?epid=507254951&hash=item2357bdf692:g:DOoAAOSwjVVV4RuA

but technical skills are required !
