I normally hate keytars, but I'm getting some "pressure" to add one to the arsenal.

Has anyone attempted to connect an Alesis Vortex wireless MIDI receiver (which works fine on Kronos) using the USB MIDI port on the Krome? I realize that an adapter would be necessary (USB A female to USB B male), but does it work?

Also, if not actually just plug and play, what do you need to do to control and play the Krome from the Vortex?

Thanks for any info on this; I don't want to add a laptop and the included sound module software for this thing into the rig.

The Krome USB interface is not USB MIDI class compliant. I've used a Kenton USB MIDI Host to connect an external MIDI controller that has a class-compliant USB B interface (a Roli Seaboard RISE) to the Krome. The Kenton device has a USB MIDI class compliant A connector that connects to the controller's USB B connector, and standard 5-pin MIDI In and MIDI Out connectors that connect to the KROME. The Kenton USB MIDI Host is kind of hard to find, and not cheap (like $100+). If the Alesis Vortex works with a USB wireless connection to the Kronos, which is USB MIDI class compliant, it should work with the Kenton adapter to the Krome...see: http://www.kentonuk.com/products/items/utilities/usb-host.shtml
