Hi Jazzguar.
Did you manage to track down a regular midi cable or two?

Hey Spheric El,

I purcahsed two ordinary MIDI cables. I have them connected to the Focusrite and MicroKorg. When I press play on SysEx, the lights on the Focusrite and MicroKorg seem to be blinking, but the patches aren't going through.

I got the patches to work!!

I ditched SysEx and just used the MicroKorg Sound Editor. Now my question is how can i pick and choose patches from this package? It came with 134 patches but the MK can only fit 128.

You need to get familiar with page 62 of the manual (original mk ,not the xl).
You can dump 1 program or 128 depending on the shift & key 6 options - 1PG or PrG.
I've not used the mk sound editor or done program dumps so don't know about doing 128 dumps from that. Maybe your sys ex prog is better?
Dont worry about backing up your programs first as you can factory reset to get them back, unless you have some you've made yourself that you want to keep.in that case back them up to the comp first.
You will need to consider Derek's advice about having the correct midi channel set and using trial and error to discover the original channel used in the program dumps you bought. You will also need to have the midi filter for sys ex set to enable - shift&4 then turn knob 4 to select E-E ,then turn write protect off - shift&8 then knob 1.
Getting 128 programs into you software is going to be the the tricky bit and something I can't help you with, you'll have to work that one yourself, sorry. Or you can start out trying just one program at a time and gain your confidence that way.
Good luck and let us know how you are getting on.
