Hi,

Some songs I play need different styles, for example verse and chorus in 8 beat, and a bridge in 3/4 with the latter in a different beats/ minute

Is there a way to create a new style that has the 8 beat with variation 1 and 2 and variation 3 is 3/4 with a slower tempo?

Are there any other ways to achieve this?

Thanks,
Nico

Yes Nico , it's possible to create any meter in any Var/Fill/Intro like 1/4,3/4,5/8,16/9 or any ,
but a 3/4 meter is not actually slower than a 4/4 , simply a 1/4 is missing but tempo is the same !
- If you want tempo to be slower then you have to enter program change midi event in tempo track
only for one fill / variation , f.e. setting tempo change there from T=100 of style to T=75 !
- In case you really need a 3/4 variation in a 4/4 - 8 beat Style , then delete all in this variation , then
set Style's meter at 3/4 and start recording the tracks of this Variation at 3/4.
- An already written Variation in 4/4 can't be altered to 3/4 without deleting all notes in midi events.

All required info are written in factory shipped Pa4X manual no matter of OS version.

Hope this helps

Thanks Anothony - will start a midi edit adventure. I had another idea I want to try - create 2 songbook entries - one with the 8 beat style and the second with the 3/4. I will test if I can get this approach to work smoothly

Hi Nico.............If you already have the Styles that you'd like to combine, then you're half way there already! Just go to Style record mode and use the Copy From feature to copy any Style Element from any style. By doing so, the time signature will get copied as well.

How to use the Copy From feature:

How to change the tempo within a Style:

Hi

Being new to the pa4x, I've managed to follow Sam's 'Copy Video' and integrated two styles together. Thanks Sam.
I need now to alter the accompaniment volumes to just one of the variations without also changing the volume to the tracks in the other three variations.
I've read and tried most things but unable to acheive this. Can this be done ??
I know I could control them with the sliders but prefer to have them saved.

Thanks
Gordon

Hi Gordon....

Yes, that's the next issue that needs to be addressed when combining Styles. Even with Factory Styles, not all styles and style tracks have the same volume.

When you combine multiple Styles kind of go through each variation in Style play mode and set the overall volume for the Style that has the most variations. let's call it Style A. Now you might have certain tracks of Style B that are not as loud, or too loud ... etc.

To fix that go to Style Record mode, and edit the expression values for those tracks and variations. This way you will get a consistent loudness when you switch from one Var to another. Here's how:

Editing expression values:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ6sughqH4g

I recorded this video using a Pa3x but it works the same. Let me know if this didn't work for you.

You can also edit the velocities values for those tracks, but let's try the expression first.

Hi Sam

Thanks for your reply, really appreciated.
Surprised myself and had actually sorted it by, as you say, using the Expression Tab of the Element Track Control page. Easy when you know Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks again Sam.....need to watch more of your videos.

Gordon
