I realise that this is a matter of taste, but the sampling thing is less useful to me than the Kross 1 step sequencer buttons. EDIT: OK, so it seems that it still has the step sequencer. Fair enough. Added function without anything lost - but nothing very deep in terms of function.
The USB audio feature is OK.
The control knobs are nice - but not wildly open-ended. You'd get more function from a cheap BCR2000.
The most exciting thing appears to be a hint at more power under the hood, if you can have reverb effects in any IFX slot. But they don't actually say that, so who knows? And higher polyphony, I guess. EDIT: judging by the fact that they have more types of effects for IFX than they do for MFX, chances are they're still limiting reverb/delay. Dammit.
Honestly, I'd describe this as something of a missed opportunity on KORG's part.
EDIT:
In summary, if you asked me whether I'd prefer a Kross 1 or a Kross 2, I'd have a mild preference for Kross 2. Very mild. But I can't see any reason to rush out and get one.
