Hi all,
I have a Kronos 73 and love it... except for the weighted keys when I'm playing organ/synth leads that are more suitable for a synth action keyboard. Short of buying another Kronos 61 I decided that I'd take a chance on a Roland A800 Pro. I figured that it would have similar action to my Jupiter 80 -- after all, it's a Roland! Unfortunately the keys are slightly smaller that full size and it's just not working out.

So, I'm in search of a 61 key synth action full size controller for my Kronos. I've looked at many of the controllers out there and the keys are mainly crap. I've pretty much concluded that such a controller doesn't exist. So I figured I'd just buy a used synth as a controller for my Kronos.

Surely I haven't been the first to deal with this. What suggestions do you guys have?

Mark

Hi

Not sure if it would suit your particular organ technique, but I am a big fan of Yamaha semi-weighted keybeds. I have a Kronos X 61, which is very nice as my top tier keyboard, but prefer a 76 note controller for the bottom tier. So I recently replaced my EX5 with a Montage as I couldn't find a semi-weighted 76 note controller that I liked (and of course I get the Montage sounds as well as the Kronos).

So I would look out for a second hand Yamaha to try which has their semi-weighted action. DX7, SY77, EX5 or EX7, Motif.... Or I have heard that some Korgs shared the same keybed (like the M1, 01/W?)

Yamaha:
DX7,DX7IIFD,DX5,EX5,EX7,KX76,SY77,SY99,PF10/15(w/MIDI KIT)
Motif6, 7, ES6, ES7 and many organs.
Korg: M1, T1, 01/W, Wavestation, Trinity, Triton, Triton pro, Triton Extreme, Z1.
The keyboard in these models is one of the best, more robust keyboards ever built. They used metal, serviceable key contacts that just don't wear out. A nice feel that is very responsive.

Competition of cheaper keyboards finally stopped Yamaha from making them.
