Hello,

I'm trying to play four volcas through a mixer - each with pre-programmed patterns (chained in the instance of the FM, Sample and Kick): but sometimes (often enough for me to be perplexed enough to post here) the FM skips a step, and it affects which ever volca is synced after it in the chain - so then everything goes out of step! There's nothing wrong active-step-wise in the FM's individual patterns (it doesn't miss a step when cycling through them on its own) - but for some reason it seems to get intimidated by the presence of the other volcas, and stumbles.

Any thoughts?

Check.your sync cable connected to the Fm by switching with another volca.
Check your sync in socket by blowing compressed air in and check the out sync of connected volca neighbour.

Edit ..looking at your post it seems you have the FM 2nd in the chain?
This has me confused now,but still check cables/sockets anyway.

Thanks Spheric El,

Yes, the FM is currently second in the chain. This is such an intermittent problem that just now I fired them all up (first time since posting) and they all worked flawlessly...

Next time the FM loses a step I'll try what you suggested (change the order within the sync chain / clear potential dust ( very astute of you with that one - I don't really dust enough Smile ))

Incidentally, you get loads of (un)welcome glitches / tempo / step confusion if you alter the volca order within the sync chain while playing mid-pattern. Tempo of the first volca in the chain, and whether half- or quarter-speed mode is selected on any of them also messes with it!

Or - I have an incredibly dusty room...

What I'm thinking is you might have a doggy cable that breaks the signal occasionally.
Try replacing this cable that's connected to the step losing FM.

Good idea, thanks - I'll give it a try.
