Would appreciate any information and advice regarding suitable audio interfaces.
In particular an older MacBook Pro and/or any iMac computers.
It would also be helpful to glean the results of their usage.
With Thanks. |

As far as I know, the Zoom H5 and H6 audio recorder have an audio interface for Mac.

I think that zoom is $99.
No other software ( like cubase , stein burg included) included, I guess.
A bundle with software for recording makes more sense for me.
This post can be a good place to organize audio interface suggestions, facts, price, user input. etc. Thanks, Pedro ! _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

No, the both are more expensive than that : 269$ H5 and 349$ H6. The both come with Cubase LE and can replace the computer audio card. |

Thank you Liviou2004 for posting the Zoom H5 / H6 examples.
They look interesting, but probably too expensive if only ever used as audio devices in a home studio environment.
However,as a mobile unit they have some good potential.
I wonder if any forum members have used one...??
Best Wishes. |

what are your requirements?,
no of inputs and outputs and what is your main use and what all you need/want to connect.
Both focusrite and Steinberg/Yamaha build decent affordable interfaces in variety of configurations. _________________ DX7-MOD-7 Patches | Korg Related Content

I have no experience with audio interfaces.
I frequently create 16 midi tracks plus a few audio tracks using the SEQ.
Even with that, I am restricted as I would like the flexibility m and ease of use to go as high as 32 tracks. I frequently monitor created tracks as I record new tracks.
In addition I am going to augment all my Kronos audio recording with Mainstage on my MBP.
So I need an AI ( and possibly something like Cubase) that will meet/exceed requirements and provide good work flow and excellent quality. I am thinking of moving off the SEQ , if necessary for my recording. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Look into Steinberg: UR44 or UR 28M, these usually suffice for most basic home audio needs. (6-8 input channels, and MIC-PRES with Phantom Power)
If you have requirement for more physical channels (a lot of hardware audio equipment there is a lot in pro-studio category that'd cost you $$$$)
If you have a modest budget RME interfaces are some of the best. _________________ DX7-MOD-7 Patches | Korg Related Content

Remember on Kronos you have 6 analog outputs or 3 stereo pairs, thus having an interface with 6-8 inputs you can record that many audio tracks separately, yet simultaneously. _________________ DX7-MOD-7 Patches | Korg Related Content
