Here is a bit of a piece I just composed on the PA4X, using Cakewalk Sonar as my sequencer.
https://youtu.be/l6ljBv2kEyA
By recording each track as a layer, I have two hands free for playing each part.
I can also edit sections and overdub.
You'll have to read the MIDI section in the PA4x manual to understand how to do this. I was in Style mode, NOT sequencer mode.
But some important points:
1. Sonar is the time controller. PA4x gets "clock" from Sonar
2. Channels 1-4 go out from the PA4X MIDI to Sonar, and are Upper 1,2,3, and Lower. With a split
3. Channel 4 is set as the chord recognition channel on the PA4x
4. Channel 6 is set as a CONTROL channel on PA4x so it can receive Variations, endings, breaks sent from SOnar as Program changes.
These are entered manually in Sonar as event on Channel 6.
Use the USB MIDI interface. It is simpler connection and only that interface seemed to work properly for me with control changes to the Korg, unless I was missing a parameter somewhere and causing a problem.
Interestingly when I pressed FADE on the PA4X it sends sysex messages out the MIDI and Sonar recorded them, and on playback, it fades the PA4x. Wonderful!
Hope you get something out of this.
