Hello,

I just acquired an old Korg DVP 1 and it's malfunctioning.

The only programs that generate any sounds are "Harmonize" and "Pitch Shift" (though also not always) but nothing ever comes out when either "Vocoder" or "Int Wave" is enabled.

Would any of you have an advice what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance,

ZB

Is there a MIDI keyboard connected to the unit?

Update: when MIDI keyboard is connected and played I can hear the internal synthesizer but the microphone still generates no sound.

I'd appreciate any advice. Tried everything I could think of so far.

Does the microphone work on other devices? Which connector is being used for the input? The 1/4" jack or the Cannon? Is the input level attenuator set to -50dB? If the microphone works on other devices, does the direct out connector have any sound from the mic, or does the level display show any signs of a signal?

Thank for your reply.

The microphone works on other devices. The level display shows signal and the direct output has sound. I connected it both with XLR and 1/4 and it is the same.

The "Harmonize" and "Pitch Shift" modes react to the microphone but as soon as I switch to "Int Wave" or "Vocoder" there is no sound.

When I play MIDI keyboard I can synths sounds on "Int Wave" but not from the microphone, just pure MIDI notes with the internal synth. When I play on "Vocoder" there is some relation to the microphone but it sounds like it responds only minimally.

"Int Wave" should work regardless of any MIDI input, right?

Any ideas?

Thanks for these answers. They have helped to eliminate several possible areas where a fault might have occured.

When harmonising, is it possible to play up to 5 notes from the MIDI keyboard simultaneously?

Does the display function normally, and do the Int Wave and Vocoder button LEDs illuminate when selected?

Has the memory backup battery been changed?

.
