Hi, I recently got the Volca Kick as well. Did you succeed with the midi out mod? I'm curious whether it sends out the touch fx over midi, which would be awesome! |

If you need a good way to make the hack without drilling a hole into the device then check out my blog. I did the mod to the volca FM and also to my Kick exactly the same way. For the Volca Kick, it will send you midi cc's, but the notes are quite strange. Every note is a C note, but every key on the keyboard has its own midi channel, from 1-16. Volca FM does not do this strange thing.
My wishes for a mod would be to install a pitch LFO to get some earthquake kicks.

That is strange, considering that addressing it via MIDI it behaves like a melodic instrument and can be played as one would a regular keyboard instrument.
Which CC's are transmitted? I can't see how any of the touch fx would do anything outside it's own box, you would need something that behaves exactly like the VKick with exactly the same parameters set to exactly the same CC's, but if they do send CC's on various channels, it could make for an odd controller worth experimenting with on different machines. _________________ Stuff I'm using: Umm right now, well there's a Volca Drum, a Micro Freak, an ADX-1, a Pulse, a Blofeld, a UNO Drum, KeyStep/Beatstep Pro/Keystep Pro (one of each), a Circuit, a LiveTrak L-12 and this nonsense: The Brief-case as it was about a bit over a year ago (the the complete ridiculous GAS monster collection here)and here |

control cc's are transmited on the midi channel that v. kick is listening to with the same parameters as the ones from midi implementation chart. I did not try with the touch fx, but I dont think they will send cause they are not in the implementation chart if i am not wrong. |

Cheers for that. It would be logical that only the CC's it responds to are transmitted. I couldn't imagine they'd run stuff that they couldn't respond to. But then again, we are talking about MIDI, which has had some very strange implementations over the years.

Not shure what he did, or what the result is. However in the comments there is a guy that say you can do the same thing by adding some decay and then go right with the tone/rev02 konb. That sounds about right because I have no problems replicating that sound in the vid. |
