The IFX controls have to come through a midi channel as midi controls do. If not global, then another channel.
The good thing is you can route a dedicated midi channelled track for midi control purposes, to your ifx. Then you route your audio track or page to the same effect and that effect will be controlled by the midi channel which is doing the work for the audio channel.

Assignable controls work over midi channels.

Route midi track to IFX and assign controls there. You can mute the midi track to have only the controller message functions without sound.

Route your audio track to the same ifx. The IFX will be controlled via midi track and effecting sound to any track routed to it. Ifx can have any or all tracks routed to it. Audio and midi alike. Audio page included.

If your ifx page has midi channel settings, be sure to match that to your midi track channel number. Control messages will only get to whatever destination is on the same channel as the control source.

Global midi channel is best to work with if you don't have conflict between timbre/tracks routings.
I think naturally IFX controls would be over global channel and they could be independent of midi tracks and the issue be that you are not in the right control surface mode.
The right side front panel with buttons for karma, drum track, latch and such -you have also control mode settings for timbre/track, karmaRT, EXT and tone adjust.
Often unresponsive controls are due to the wrong control surface mode.

Glad you solved the issue. Earlier this evening, I shot a video to show you the process. I'll post it tonight on the Scoopicman channel.
