Got a feeling you want to know about the synth Volcas ie the Bass, Keys, FM and sample. I own the Beat and Kick. I use a controller for the Beat to change the parameters, especially the PCM speeds. Pretty easy to do, you set the MIDI channel by pressing and holding the Memory button while powering up then select the channel with the step ribbon. You will also need to tell your Volca to listen for MIDI CC messages. Again while powering-up your Volca, press and hold this time the Func button. This puts you into the Global Parameters menu. Make sure that the led for step 7 on the ribbon is lit-up, that indicates that the Volca will recognise MIDI CC's. Also if you intend on not using the Volca's sequencer, make sure that step 6 is unlit. That sets the Volca to internal clock so if it receives a MIDI Start message, it won't automatically start playing.
Once that is done, the Volca will respond to notes played on that channel as well as recognised MIDI messages. You can find which parameters are addressable via MIDI in the MIDI implementation chart for your Volca, but they are all pretty much the same, only controlling different parameters depending on which Volca.
Hope this helps.

I pretty much only use controllers on my Volcas, whether they are sequencers like the Social Entropy Engine, or the linear sequencers inside my workstations.

I also use the BCR2000 to make their MIDI implementations more available.

I basically use my volcas as modules and sequence and control them from either my monomachine or digitakt. The elektron sequencers allow for parameter locks and other stuff that really opens the volcas up as synths.

I just looking for a simple controller for the FM. Smaller as possible, maybe 25 notes. Something that can accept traditional MIDI OUT to MIDI in of the Volca.

I just jammin, I'd never put my works on a daw.
I found that the Alesis Q25 has a MIDI out but there is my only option?

You didn't specify you budget, but in my opinion the best compact keyboard controller by far is the Arturia Keystep. Besides USB, it has real MIDI In and Out connections and analog CV/Gate out and sync in/out (compatible w/ Volcas and Monotribe).

The keyboard responds to velocity and aftertouch and it also features a neat sequencer/arpeggiator. All that for around $120 (US), or you can usually find it used for $100 or less.

Most companies sell at least one controller that has a MIDI out on a DIN socket, just a matter of looking up on their sites what they are offering then finding somewhere to buy the one you decide upon. Also I'd recommend going into a musical instrument store to try out what they have on display as a controller is more than the sum of it's octave and knob count. You may find that a synth action keyboard isn't for you and that you prefer a semiweighted keyboard after playing one. Also I find it useful to do a search for "problems" or "issues" with the product as it will reveal if the product is working how it's supposed to with posts regarding reliability in user forums and the like.

I have to say my Keystep is the keyboard my fingers play the most, but I have better controllers. Keystep lacks dials and sliders. In saying that I should mention that combined with a knobby-slidery box, it's a good polysynth controller and step-sequencer. I'm hoping that Arturia release a Keystep Pro with some knobs and a display on it.

Well, most of the stuff I use it with (Monotribe, Volcas and Boutiques) have their own dials and sliders, so that's not an issue for me.

But I would like to see a full size Keystep Pro too.
