Hi, I got the korg karma yesterday and there's a couple questions I have that I'm confused on.

1. How can I switch between voices quickly while playing live?

2. Why is it that all of the voice categories are scattered throughout each bank? It would be a lot easier to find the voice I'm looking for if each category was together. Is it possible to make that happen?[/list]

answer #1 -

Get yourself a footswitch, and in global mode you can assign it to switch programs. You'll have to reorder your programs.

Answer #2 -

Korg synths used to contain 100 programs in each bank, and organized them by the 1's column. Keyboard instruments would be 01, 11, 21, 31, etc., guitars would be 04, 14, 24, 34, etc. It actually made a lot of sense. When they released the Trinity and Triton series, all program banks had 128 programs, so they were organized by batches of 16s instead of 10s. This DIDN'T make sense to a lot of people, so when they updated the M3 and OASYS, they began organizing them so all the pianos were 0-32, EPs were 33-64, etc. which finally made sense. Bottom line, the KARMA has a terrible voice name list format, you just gotta memorize the #s.

Hi Theticklebunny!

I use the Karma as my bottom board for Piano, EP Clav Organ duties.
My top board does synthy stuff.

The easiest way for me was to

Copy my most frequent programs/Combis to Bank C and D

Programs 00,10,20 etc are pianos
01... EP
02... Clav
03...Strings
04...Synth Brass
05...PWM Brass or Effect
06...Organ
07...Full Organ
08...Lead
09...Lead or Bass

Programs or Combis 10-19 are variations.

Use the ./Hold Button (to the right of the 0 button) to lock your keypad to the numbers 0-9. Then one key press will get you to your sound.

Works for me! Best, Sam in NJ USA
