Hello!
I have Korg Lp-380. Just connected it to PC via Midi-Usb. All work fine.
I'm interested is it possible to output sound from PC via any sort of sound cables (Jack for example) throug internal speakers of Korg? They have 4 wires and 4 speakers on board.
Thank you! |

Playing the PC sound through the LP-380 speakers is not possible with the existing setup.
One way to achieve this would be to get a mixer with built in PA amplifier, and to feed the mixer with the audio from the LP-380 headphone socket into two mixer inputs (two inputs because there are L and R channels) and with the audio from the PC going into another pair of mixer inputs. The speakers would need to be disconnected from the LP-380 and connected instead to the mixer's loudspeaker output.
If the mixer approach is used, it would need to be borne in mind that the speakers on the LP-380 were designed to handle 22W from the piano's internal amplifier. Care would need to be taken for a mixer PA not to exceed this, to avoid damaging the speakers.

Thank you, voip!
So the internal speakers are passive and have no any amplifiers?
And what means 4 wires, that connect to the speakers: 4 wires = 4 channels or 2 wires = power (+/-) and 2 wires = Left and Right? |

Okay!
Just reassembled Korg's Audio System:
only big MDF carcass, 4 wires, 2 speakers (10 cm diameter) and 2 invertors.
Speakers have 2 connections, marked "+" and "-".
Any ideas?
I have only 2 ideas: a) to connect external Amp b) replace to anoter speakers using appropriate Amplifiers for them. [/img]
1 thing i'm interested is impedance of korg's spekers. Anybody know it?
(p.s. if max Power is 22W per speaker and nominal Voltage 19 V then inpedance R=U^2/P=19*19/22=16 Ohms. Is it right?)
p.p.s One more idea: output PC-sound trough internal amplifier of Korg))) It's very risky but may be esthetic |

As you've discovered, the speaker housing contains just the speakers. The power amplifier is located on the main board of the instrument. Of the 4 pins on the speaker connector, two are used for the left speaker, and two for the right speaker. The speakers are marked + and - to identify the speaker "polarity" so that when the cable assembly is built, the correct connections can be made on the assembly line and the speaker phase is correct.
Like many electronic devices, this keyboard could be hacked so that an external device could use the internal amplifier. A good knowledge of electronics would be required in order to design the mods so that the piano continued to operate as intended, and safely so and, of course, any warranty would be invalidated. Compliance with electromagnetic compatibility regulations would probably also be adversely affected. |
