If I remember correctly, you can only do this in SEQUENCER MODE.
I have an older video that I recorded using the Pa3x. Could still be the same for the Pa4x as well?

if i play a midi file and it in the key of c ,, i just press the transpose key ( up or down ) and the song and the keyboard ,, all change, you can fix it were just the song change keys and not the keyboard or you can load the song in to the SEQUENCER and change for good to the key you like ..and be done with it ,, if I like a song in the key of C ,,, I would load it in the sequencer and change it and be down with it ,, no more thinking on the job ,, |

I also appreciate information, however, I need to ask supplementry question. If I wanted to change the KEY on the SCORE of the Midi, so I could read the change as I am playing, how does that work? I am not talking about a straight forward transpose. Any help appreciated |

Hi Brianbluek, I think you may want to check out the following old thread, in which I outline the answer to a very similar question.

Hope this helps.
Best wishes,

I have worked out a way to do it on my set up.
I have a Tyros4 and Korg PA4X I want to use Midi from my T4 library. Makeing changes on T4 is very easy but not on KORG so this is what I have done. It is a long way round and it will be time consuming but at least I have a result
1. I selected Midi song on T4, made all the changes necessary, channels and key.
2, Recorded as a Midi
3 Moved to User File
4 Transferred to USB
5 Plug into KORG andhey presto, everything there as I wanted.
Job done, although there maybe better ways but for me this is now easy.
I do not know what to do if you just tried to change a Midi on KORG though, it is baffling |

It's super easy to change the key for a midi file. I've done it a thousand times. You can transpose the entire file , a single track, or a range. I'm not near the keyboard at the moment but I have this video that I recorded on the Pa3x...I'm pretty sure it's still done the same way.

Tracks that are set to "drum type" won't be transposed if you apply the key change to the entire midi file. _________________ Sam

In Sequencer Mode, Menu, Edit Event, Select "Master Track" (it is below Track 16 in the bottom left menu), Look for event "KeySign" and change it to what it should be. |
I think that step is only required if you need that key signature info for a special reason. If you just transpose a midi file and save, the pitch of the old key will be automatically overwritten. _________________ Sam
