The factory programs and EXs are strong IMO. They record beautifully.

Most know about the 3rd party sample libs at
https://shop.korg.com/kronos/SoundLibraries

Or you can offer up specifics on what you would like to hear.

Hope you know that EXs19 is available for free to Kronos 2 owners.

https://shop.korg.com/Kronos/EXS-19

Many excellent strings plus others in this library.

Kapro has very nice sounds. Bit pricey though.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies. Having read another thread on this topic, I realize, as Greg C pointed out, there are some great sounds in the factory banks, but the key is to layer some together to make even fatter, bigger sounds.

I've tried this today with Brass and tomorrow I'll go for Strings.

If you want layered and realtime playable orchestral strings/brass etc. Kapro is excellent and worth the extra money.
If you have a K2, download the EXS19 first up, if you like that, and want to take it further I recommend EXS45, which has some excellent symphonic velocity layers and some solo arrangements.

Curious that it is free for K2 owners, and $49 for K1/KX owners. Think

Well the Berlin Grand, the two new banks of sounds and other new samples are included in the K2. Owners of K1/KX can purchase these as well. I don't know Korg's arrangement with KaPro regarding the Private Collection, but if Korg pays royalties on a per unit basis, then they could very well want to limit that to new purchases. In all, the new sounds and samples with the K2 are designed to add value. Consider if you purchased a Motif XF and then three years later the Montage hits with new sounds and all. In that case you would need to sell the Motif and buy the Montage. Here, you can get all the sounds in the K2 for ~$300.

Absolutely agree - it's a great package - don't forget that you can download it and try it before buying.

Cheers

Busch, thanks for the info. Yes, that could make sense if Korg is limiting royalties with KaPro to only new Kronos (K2) purchases.

So, I have purchased and installed the New Kronos Sound Pack for my K1. I have also installed the new preload PCG so that all factory program slots are now in the locations of a new Kronos. This for comparability and syncing when using the K2 at church.

I'm willing to purchase KaPro's EXs19 for $49, but can I download K2 PCG instead?

If you've loaded in the New Kronos Sound Pack, you effectively have a K2. So from now on you should load the K2 PCG when you have that option. It generally only affects the programs for drum tracks, but on occasion a new library will use one of the programs from PRELOAD.PCG. What changed with the K2 is I-A and I-B got all new programs, while the original programs were shifted starting at I-C. Drum Tracks rely on programs for the kits.

I saw that recommendation when I bought my K2 a couple months ago, but I was not able to get it for free. That deal said it was expired. I ended up paying the $49. Still a great deal.
