Ok,here is something that happened today:

i try to record from sequencer mode to mp3.Maxx audio settings are on,and level out is about to -40.No problem till here,it sounds ok.
I record in highest quality ,tried both to HD and Disk with the same result : while playing it back,no matter if i play it from the keyboard itself or from my pc, i hear pops and clips .

Something else that also happened since yesterday while trying to record is this :

I guess that might be an error when trying disk/sd/hd connection with pc,but any suggestions?

I think it just works right if you record to the free ram in the pa4x. then you can tranfree to usb drive , the usb and HD , are not fast,,

or just try it record to 1gig free spot..

I tried that already.....
I made a lot of recordings, and i could treat the master volume as normal.
Now,it seems like it doesn't have an effect while recording.
i turned off all EQ and in master section i also turned off BASS-TREBLE- STEREO, and i left only Volume ON ,
but it looks like it its not working,
i mean i rec the same midi file with volume at 0.0 or at -19.1 and when i finish recording and transfer the mp3 to my pc,
they both play at 0.0 and because it's agressive,
it has a little bit of distortion in the recording.

I also tried to record again with keyboard's volume almost closed....
still the same ,
just don't get it!!!!

Agree with you.
I experimented to record on MP3 from Style Mode several times with low Master Volume (9 o'clock position), all tracks are balanced from my sets that
I use every week for live performance, But when I listen to the MP3, it's distorted.
Years ago when I had the Pa1X, I recorded for the first time on MP3 from Style Mode and the result was excellent.
I thought we could get the same MP3 quality with Pa4X, but unfortunately I couldn't get a good MP3 recording so far, just gave up, shame!

Well I don't do much recording on the keyboard I use a computer but I had tested out for myself and I recorded a style and played on top of it saved it and then I recorded a mini track and save that that I copy them both over and put them inside my computer to listen to and I could not hear any distortion or crackling I did not change any of them Max audio settings they are factory and it was a factory style and just a common MIDI song or there might be distortion in it if I would's listen real close but I slowed it down like couldn't hear anything or you have better ears and I do I'm just making a guess now how about trying a full backup of your set up and do a fresh reinstall of the operating system I don't know if that'll work but that's what I have to try next.. Let me know

As far as i can tell, from style mode it sounds better....
The problem seem to be while recording in sequencer mode, maybe it is the midi file itself, but it was just a Jordan Rudess' piano midi file.
I assigned a German grand piano and the same effects that German grand performane has, nothing less, nothing more....

Why i can't have control of the Volume's gain sudenly,i just can't answer to that question, but i will try again

My guess is the volume of the original midi is just too high.
You can fix this in Sequencer Mode by going into Menu, Event Edit, change bottom Tab to Master Track (below Track 16). Now if the midi file has a Vol event lower the value. If it doesn't have a volume event then add one at the beginning and try a value of around 90 and see if that solves it.

Hi,

as far as I know all "MAXX" etc. settings are not recorded.

The audio-stream is captured before the signal passes MAXX, EQ etc...

Anyway, I recorded several times ( styleplay and songplay mode, max mp3 quality ) and had never any distortion etc...

The recordinglevel is not close to 0dB ( in fact it´s far below ), so I always have to normalize it on PC.
