I'm not asking technically how to set it up. More of a preference question.
Do you set it up in globals to mirror something from the control surface so that you get hands free control of that controller consistently in every patch?
Or do you leave it set to Expression so that it can be different for every patch? If so, what do you like to assign it to? |

I have it set to the default foot controller for the sole reason that it works as a swell pedal should on the CX3 patches (which is slightly different than regular volume).
If I need to assign it differently, I do it on a patch by patch basis, and if I need to use it in a combination to control volume of a part that is not CX3, I use an IFX block with foot pedal assigned. _________________

Good stuff. I didn't know any of the factory programs had it pre-wired to anything. I guess my tour at the time didn't include the CX3 but hands free control of the swell would be.. swell. Great tip on controlling a combi volume with IFX/Dmod. I guess you just use something like a compressor with settings that don't actually apply compression and assign to the output level/gain?
I think I'm leaning toward this setting it up this way too. A little more work in making assignments but seems most flexible. I had it rigged up controlling a wah effect the other day and that was great fun - very expressive. |

Just got a brand new Korg EXP-2 pedal today - wee-hee !
The built seems strong and I like the amount of resistance moving the pedal up and down.
For now, I am using the EXP-2 on MIDI CC#04 and with the Reset option so that the pedal behaves like the Knobs mode set on Catch in Global, so no low volume bad surprise when you select a CX3 program and your expression pedal is all the way up.
Figured out that indeed most CX3 programs are already routed to MIDI CC#04 under Basic/Controllers/Expression but it can be cancelled so that you instead link the EXP-2 to anything else if needed.
I especially enjoyed it tonight for wah effect and with huge synth sounds with the pedal set to filter cutoff or resonance, etc.
My review for the EXP-2 : 10/10 ! |

I use 2 pedals (Behringer), and use one for my Kronos (MC1) and the other for the master keyboard (MC2). Depending on a switch I can toogle between Expression (volume) and Ribbon Control, where the last I use for various things, mostly filter, but also special effects etc, whatever I need for a song. _________________

On Combis I often use it to bring in new layers of sound by disabling it on the channels I always want to hear and enabling it on those that I want to bring in & out. A simple example would be piano always on and strings layered when expression is added. _________________ Korg Gear: (2) Kronos, PS3100, (2) MaxiKorg, PE1000, Z1Ex, MS20M,(2) OASYS-PCI, Synthe Pedal, Wavedrum WD-1, Prophecy, SQ1, 2600FS, M3M |

Go to the Combi. Select MIDI Filter Zones. Select MIDI filter 3. Uncheck enable foot pedal for those layers that you want always on. Save the Combi. _________________ Korg Gear: (2) Kronos, PS3100, (2) MaxiKorg, PE1000, Z1Ex, MS20M,(2) OASYS-PCI, Synthe Pedal, Wavedrum WD-1, Prophecy, SQ1, 2600FS, M3M |
