Hi
Has anyone fitted a second SSD to a new Kronos (2) 73 key? The data 0 connection on the mother board is tucked under the key weights with a couple of wires in the way. Looks like a tricky fit.

Anyone done it? (not the original or the X! - I have done a K1 61 key no probs)

Thanks

Foden

I've added a second SSD to my K88 2, no problems with it - I had to remove a few screws to lift the keybed up to get the SATA cable onto the Motherboard.

A bit fiddly, but worth it.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you use a right angle or straight connector? I tried a straight but the cable interfered with the key weight and a right angle made a sharp turn around the ram tab. Not sure which is best.

Cheers

I used a Silverstone SST CP11 right angle SATA cable (50cm, I think) instead of the generic red ones. They're much better for weaving around awkward objects.

This is an old video I made, but it might be of use to you.

Sharp, is that video of the interior of the Kronos or the Kronos 2?

That's original or X.

Thanks Sharp - I have seen that before. The issue with the Kronos 2 73 Key is data connection 0 is in a different place to the original Kronos mother board. It is kind of tucked away under the key weights. A straight cable hits one of the key weights and the right angle hits the ram slot leaver
I will do a bit of careful re-routing to see if I can fit the cable without stressing it.

Thanks for the cable suggestion Broadwave.
The Silverstone Tek Ultra Thin Lateral 90 Degree SATA looks like it will work as the right angle comes out the side and will miss the Ram slot.

Cheers

What kind of drive-mounting hardware are you guys using (Kronos 2 88-key)? What does the second SSD mount to? Thanks!

I could be mistaken, there should be a metal brace inside your K2 for a 2nd SSD.

I am installing a 2nd SSD on my K tomorrow- I hope to see that brace.

how long is your SATA ? Do you recall ?

I have an 18" cable- but I think I need a 24" length for my 88

Thanks

There are several videos available for ssd installation (mainly the original Kronos) and also show the innards of a Kronos, which may be useful to view.
A google search will find most.

Yep there is a metal HD cage holding the original SSD with room for another. Power supply is right there.
