I use my Kronos in stereo with a Behringer XR 18. A venue we will be playing has a mono PA; literally one XLR input. Is it ok to use a "Y" connector on the XR 18 main outputs to combine into one signal for input to the PA? _________________ JP

Just use one cable from the Left/Mono output to the XLR. The mix happens internally. It's probably the same as using a Y but less to go wrong with a single cable.

That's correct. But you will probably notice that things sound strange. Especially stereo piano patches. Summing to mono creates some strange phasing effects on stereo patches. |

Don’t use a “Y” to join two signals together, bad things can happen. A “Y” is ok to split a signal though. _________________ Kronos2-61..(2) Triton Classic, Nord Stage 2, Previously owned lots of other gear dating back to the 70’s. |

Not a bad rule of thumb actually, however, in the Kronos the exact same mixing is happening internally as would happen with a "Y" adapter. In fact, it's typical of most modern keyboards these days.
As said above, it can affect the sound in a bad way. You can try just running one channel by selecting the R channel and compare that sound to the mono version (L side/mono). In a lot of cases, listening to just one side of a stereo sound sounds better than listening to both sides mixed.
If running MONO is something you have to do often, you can re-program sounds to work better in mono. Of course, stereo works best!
