The LS has a metal bottom.

Hi,

check if the keybed of the Kronos LS 88 is ok for You. If so I would go for it. I do gig and I´m happy with this really lightweight keyboard (17,8 kg). Be aware that the keybed cannot produce aftertouch, but the LS can, so if you use f.e. a 49 controller for sounds with aftertouch it also works.

best regards
SoulBe

Tried the 73 weighted Kronos, sent it back. Between that and the case you're looking at close to 70 lbs. And that's with the lightweight cases. Moving that sucker at 3:00 in the morning after a gig --- ugh. Absolutely hate playing with only 61 keys, but I manage it. For the weekend warrior I was really hoping for a 76/73 semi-weighted, but not holding my breath. If I was 20 years younger I'd have stuck with the 73, but for the over 50 crowd, we have to settle for 61 using a single board or put up with the lugging a controller.

Check out the 88LS. I am happy with mine. I am more of a synth/ organ guy so I can live with the action.

I've got both a 73 and 88 and for 95% of the shows we do I use the 73 - in it's flightcase it's easier to maneuver into the car at the end of gigs and easier to get up stairs if necessary. With the 88 I tend to find getting it into the car is a two man job.

Plus for smaller shows there isn't really the space on stage for the 88. With all of the splits, etc I use a 61 key isn't enough. Sometimes I'd love to have a smaller board (especially at 2am after a gig) but I think the 73 is a good compromise.

I have a K88 and I gig (like 7 gigs over the last 4 days). I'm 52 and I have no issues dragging the 88 around. I use a Gator case with wheels - makes it easy to slide into/out of the car.

What DID bum me out is that I need to be in Sweden tomorrow (I live in Belgium) and need my K88 there - but it's too heavy and large to come with me on an airline - I'd have to ship is as cargo (with a cargo company, not a passenger flight). I'll have to make do with a rented keyboard overthere and I'm not too happy about that ...

that sounds sucky. I suppose you are contractually obligated ? Or have little recourse to say " no " to that gig.

@Greg - it's an improvised gig - I can improvise on any keyboard; but I'll miss my sounds ...

I hear you. You can adapt but are not excited about it.

My K88 , many SEQ'd songs and my 10 slow fingers are inseparable.

Sometime in the future, I will develop a piano bar ensemble style, but my original Song project is the plan for the next 1-2 yrs.
