Hello!

I have set up my NanoPad2 to play chords, which by itself is pretty easy to do.

I am now using a Combi where I have several programs assigned to the timbres. Those all work great too, the problem I am having now is the pads using the timbre I want (seems to use all timbres).

Example, in my TEST combi, timbre 1 is strings, timbre 2 is a brass lead and timbre 3 and above may or may not be used. When I go into the pads (EQ/Vector/Control) in Combi mode, I can make my chords just fine, I can't however pick a specific timbre for the chord to play. When I play a pad, I get the chord notes, just all timbres.

Am I missing something? If so, what? Or is what I'm doing not possible?

As a side note, in another Kronos rig set up I use, I use a 61-key MIDI controller which plays other timbres (different MIDI channel). I don't have this problem when I use chords in Combis. I am therefore thinking this may have something to do with MIDI???

Thanks in advance for any input!

Hi, I'm not around my K now but I remember you can choose midi channel in the pads page.

Like you and tatun are suggesting, your solution lies with how you use MIDI channels.

If you want to play chords with different timbres all layered together, then use the same MIDI channel for those timbres.

But if you want a certain pad to play a chord on only a specific timbre, and another pad to play a chord using a different timbre, then you should use separate MIDI channels. You can either change what MIDI channel a pad plays, or you can go to the timbre in the combi and change the timbre's MIDI channel to match the pad channel.

Finally, another option is to create keyboard ranges or zones on the Timbre tab.

Getting Close! Thanks for the input.

I used the Korg Kontrol Editor to change the MIDI channels of all pads to 5. The top row (chords) is still sending on the global channel, however, the bottom row of pads (single notes) is sending on MIDI 5. If I was just looking to play the notes, I'd be good Very Happy

No idea what's going on, but I'll keep dinking with it.

Go to the pad editing page in combi and you can set the MIDI channel per pad.
