I'm thinking about getting a motif rack and curious if its L & R outs can be sent to the Kronos audio ins. I don't want to sample the rack just use the audio ins to then only send the Kronos L&R to the FOH. I know a mixer would be the ideal solution but again, just curious about this approach.

yes, the Kronos audio ins work perfect.

And can act like mixer for a 2nd board or a rack.

That audio will go to the same speakers your K uses.

Thanx. Also hoping the motif pianos will still sound just as good in mono going through the Kronos if only the left is sent to FOH.

I haven't heard any stereo piano patch that sounds good when summed to mono like that. There is always some phase cancellation that ruins a nice stereo piano sound. If I have to send mono to FOH I prefer to just send them the right channel. That makes stereo tremolo, rotating speaker and other stereo effects sound weird, but I prefer that to the "nasal" sound when a stereo acoustic piano patch is summed to mono. Since my band uses a stereo PA most of the time, I haven't set up any of my Combis to use one of the mono piano patches yet. But I do plan to set up mono combis that I can use when I have to.

I used to gig with a Motif ES Rack and a MacBook Pro with several soft synths, but I recently switched to the Kronos because I got tired of carrying all that stuff around and connecting so many wires. Right now the Kronos is my only sound source.
