Yeah, I don't disagree..

SoundCloud actually allows for this, though it wasn't obvious to me at first. If you select "Custom" as your track's genre, you can type in any label you like, rather than picking from the list.

Thats good info, thanks. I wonder if casual listeners check out new material based on predefined genre ? For example, people into trance, search for any new song with trance chosen.

I will experiment with a future song with a custom label to see what happens.

On another forum, a musical brother of mine posted his Electronic Music cd which got me to thinking about something that I did a couple of years ago.
I dug through my old Cubase files and there she was! I did a quick listen and was happy enough.
So here is my first attempt at EDM. I don't really think it actually is EDM but then again at my age, what would I know? Wink
Hoep you get a kick out of it!

wow..hell has frozen over...hehe Very Happy

My philosophy is that i think its important to push my musical boundaries and do stuff outside my comfort zone. i might get surprised Smile
My next tune will be more cinematic/ambient (still WIP)
Well done Jeremy Smile

Glad you liked it Arne! I too feel that it's necessary to push yourself once in a while. I'm not sure if I'm going to delve into pop though. Frankly, I just don't like it. Always been a rock guy if you know what I mean.
Thanks for listening!

Imperfect Universe:

https://soundcloud.com/user-898236994/imperfect-universewav

My latest original instrumental composed/recorded 100% Kronos.

Its a different song, a hybrid of 80's funk, space rock and light jazz.

When I wrote this, I was thinking about the many recent events in the country
and our place in the greater scheme of things.

I get a good sax ensemble sound from Kronos in the 2nd part, where the sax ensemble has the melody.

Thanks for listening to Imperfect Universe.

I've been off work for a week so I've been able to finish up a few songs. I've been editing, recording vocals and mixing. Don't touch the spinning blade of a table saw!
This means no playing for a little while!
However, I do get to finish up my songs. normally I have 4 or 5 songs on the go at any one time. If an idea pops into my head I record it because I know that if I don't do that right away, it's gone into the great void of senility!
I used to know what that was but I forgot! Wacky

Here's my latest symphonic or prog rock mess for your perusal! It started out first as an out for my depression but then it took a turn but it all ends up fine!
Hope you like it! I'm still not surer of the mix so that may change but I really like the lead synth sound.

BTW. I just cut my thumb a bit. Nothing major. I just can't touch anything with it for a few weeks because it's too sore. I didn't lose any fingers.

https://seaformiles.bandcamp.com

I had a blast playing keys on this.
Songs with the most synths:

Army
Hafiz
Paper Thin

But, there are keys blended everywhere.

Cheers!

Quality stuff right there, from the music to the mixing to the musicianship to the album cover (I didn't notice the deer till later on). I like your son's voice a lot. Made a fan out of me.

Congratulations!

I haven't yet had a chance to listen to all of it but from what I've heard, well, let's just say amazing! You should be very proud! Wow! That's a great sound!

Wow! More great stuff! I love the Rob Halford-inspired rock vocals from jeremykeys, gorgeous arrangements from GregC, and, as always, the lovely images paired with really cool guitar-lines from runningman67 (makes me feel like I'm sitting on the beach in Hawaii).

You guys should know, I have only about 5% of your music ability, but a lot of desire (I have an embarrassing amount of gear compared to my musical talent). Sure, I can punch out a few major chords and play a simple melody, but I really need to study my music theory to improve. My biggest problem is I can only create four measures of stuff at a time. I'll have to post some soundcloud idea-snippets so you guys can see where I'm at.

At least you guys are inspiring me to be better . . .

Okay, here's four super-short songs! More like song-ideas. Take a listen! I think they all sound different. The first track is 100% Kronos + WavesArt's Cinematic Suite. There's some Yamaha Montage pads and mostly Roland V-Synth GT leads on the other tracks. Roland no longer supports the V-Synth USB driver so I had to input it into Logic using a Komplete Audio 6 S/PDIF interface—and it sounds great! Pure, clean, and all-digital with no noise-floor.

Also, I cheated and used a combi on the second track, but I also played a short snare-roll/tom-fill on that track on my V-Drums using actual drumsticks! (The drums on the fourth track is Logic's Drummer.) I also used two arps made in Logic that were played kinda lame on tracks three and four. Anyway, would love some advice/feedback on how to progress!
