This might be a dumb question, but I cannot figure out what the differences are between the E2 and E2S besides color.
I have the E2 and I can't seem to record anything from the line-in. The manual was of no help. Is it even possible? If not, what is the purpose of having a Line-in Oscillator?
Anyway, assuming E2 doesn't support recording samples in this manner, does the E2S?
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. |

The E2 is not a sampler, therefore you cannot record/sample into it. There is a line in port and oscillator because you can still run audio through the line in port and apply the E2 modulation and FX etc, you just can't sample it. The line in oscillator is actually one of the best features of these units imo.
The E2 is a synth and therefore has more waveforms and filters to sculpt your own sounds. The E2S is a sampler so you can sample/record from the line in, or add your own wav samples to the SD card and then load them into the E2S. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, and it is up to the user to decide which unit is best suited to their music.
For what it's worth, the E2 can be hacked to add sampler functionality as long as you're running the version of the firmware that allows that. There is a lot of information in this forum if you want to look into that further. |
