Hi everybody, new guy here!

I am going to replace my old Roland VA-7, and I have narrowed it down to the Pa1000 and the Yamaha PSR-S975. I have bought both and I still have 15 days to decide which one to keep.

Looks: I really like the brown reddish colour of the KORG. While the PSR has black, white and grey buttons, the Korg buttons are all black. Looks better to me. Also the PSR is shorter but deeper, making it look a little chunky.

Keys: The PSR has a little spongy feel to it, but after playing it for a while it is not a problem. Also, the Korg keys are bright white, whereas the PSR keys are slightly greyish, but you would have to compare them side by side to notice the difference.

Styles and voices: This could go either way. It has been said that Yamaha sounds like a CD and Korg like a live band. I find some truth in this, but I really can't say which I prefer. I play a lot of country, and I think that Korg has better country styles, probably due to better acoustic guitars.

So from this, the Pa1000 would be the best choice. BUT about half of my playing will be solo piano, and unfortunately I find the acoustic piano sounds somewhat dull and muffled, and this is really pushing me in the PSR direction.

Is there any way that I can add some more brightness to the Concert Grand, Classic Grand and so on, while keeping the fullness of the tone?

Thanks for reading.

Marjan

All indivudual Sounds can be customised.

Save a copy of the Piano sound you like into a User bank location.

Look in the manual are there is a very long detailed section on undertaking just this action.

Customise to suit

BTW Korg do have extra Styles packs available one of them being C&W

You can change the Eq settings which will make the sounds brighter and give the styles more punch.

You can also download a whole new set of pianos. Follow this thread in the Pa3x section.
