Hello!Sorry for my English, i'm Italian.
I have a Korg DSS1 in excellent conditions, always placed in it's alloy box. During the last year i was VERY busy and i had not the opportunity to use it!
Yesterday i was very happy to be ready to have some fun with my DSS1....but i wasn't lucky: i powered it up, and the display have showed only balck dots...backlight works....after some seconds all the button's led came red.
I've not idea what is happened....may be a cpu/controller, display controller , or eprom probleml?
How can i start a diagnostic.
Thanks in advance!

Mirko

Data entry A UP & DOWN pressed while powering on. Maybe you'll have to reseat connectors on the boards inside the synth. The only other reason I could think of is a failure of a DRAM chip. Hope you'll be lucky with the test routine alone...

Find the service manual by using a search engine. If you can't get into test mode then you might have a problem with the CPU board.

Sorry to hear...

Maybe you should go by the service manual. There are a couple of good parctical technical advices there to get started. I'm just wondering whether you need anything else running to test the CPU board? Maybe you could unplug everything except the CPU board and see what happens. I'm not sure it is a good idea, but you can check the service manual to see.

After six years I solved the problem by replacing the 780A board!! 100$, a reasonable price for a 400$ instrument.
