How Do I Use KVP-002 Volume Pedal as an Expression Pedal?

I have a KVP-002 stereo volume pedal purchased in 1985. I overheard someone say I can use it as an expression pedal "with the correct Y-adapter".

My goal is to enter CC11 expression MIDI data into Logic Pro X in real time while recording MIDI with a KeyRig 49 keyboard controller. I would like to use my foot to generate CC11 messages.

Is this possible? If it is, does anyone know what kind of cables or adapters I will need?

It's not possible for the M-Audio KeyRig 49 MIDI keyboard to generate CC#11 messages using an expression pedal connected to the pedal input. The pedal input is designed for a simple momentary switch type pedal.

The Korg KONTROL49 MIDI controller, on the other hand, will do this, as will a number of other Korg keyboards. However, the Korg boards are generally designed to work with 100kOhm linear type potentiometers connected to the expression pedal input, whilst the KVP-002 pot will almost certainly be a logarithmic type. If it does contain a pot of 100kOhm, or thereabouts, it could still be used as an expression pedal, but most of the expression-controlled volume change would happen near the pedal's maximum volume position.

Thank you for your reply. I don't have a keyboard controller with an expression input (unless my DW-8000 has one I never noticed) so I'll file this for future exploration. I know the log velocity curve annoyance so I'm not going to bother with the KVP-002 either - I'd be re-editing all my CC data which I wanted to avoid.

I'll continue using nanoKontrol Studio while playing parts w/ my right hand. Again, thanks for the explanation, it answered my question and anticipated potential follow-ups!

There's also the MIDI Solutions pedal controller, which allows correction of non-linear pedal inputs. It's not cheap, but it is MIDI powered, simplifying the necessary connections:
