I just got the Korg parts needed to change my D510mo motherboard to the Kronos X D525mw.
Parts needed besides the D525mw motherboard (with right BIOS and Ram, see below from when I upgraded the bios):

Partlist:
- New harness for power supply
- Different side panel (not sure why)
- KLM-3008 (for D525mw (kronos x)) the small circled circuit board

(Ignore the joystick I need to replace that too).

Question is, all the KLM-boards in the picture are for Kronos X. Are they identical to my original Kronos, or should I spend then time replacing them too?
KLM-3005/6/8/9 if the sticker is unclear in the picture.

I vaguely recall you might need the heat sink to go with the D525.

I was thinking this, too. Unless the original MB went bad, there is no advantage to swapping out.

Even though the MB was ‘improved” from original to X and to 2, the Kronos OS doesn’t take advantage of any increased power or speed. I have an original and I have a Kronos 2. There is no difference in performance. For whatever reason, Korg chose not to take advantage. I suppose it has to do with keeping the experience the same on all models.

The bios seems to be the standard MW0123C.BIO. http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=624965&sid=9af8c1578959658175d410c4d87e425d

Just tried to swap out my D510 (original motherboard) with a D525MW and the Kronos just blinks on the off in a loop when powered on using the D525MW, I didn’t install any of the upgrade parts listed by the OP. I suspect
you may need to just install the KLM-3008 boot support board..?

Anyone else have input on this to get my D525MW working with my K1 73?

Hi. With the D525mv do you have to use the klm3008? A repair shop installed it beside a KLM 3002 and it will not boot and only worked a week.

Thanks
Mark
