Hi guys
I want to achieve the following and would love some suggestions:-
It's about sound editing and velocity.
Of course you all know what velocity is... well I want to modify it as follows.
take a sound like strings for example...
I want the sound's velocity to act like this:-
..if I play a note (or chord) with heavy velocity (hence loud) and hold it down then play adding a lighter note or chord I want the first held down notes to change velocity to the second chord played
So what I am saying that I want the most recent note's velocity to change any other note currently held down.
Any clues other than go get some therapy or alcohol?

I don't think that can be done except for using a volume or expression pedal.

Thanks - what I was thinking too
Roland can do this and (although it seems strange) is incredibly effective for sounds like accordions.
I'll have to look deep into Roland sound editing and try to figure it out.

You could, I suppose, record the velocity changes as part of a sequence control track....so as you play along the velocity will automatically change ?

I strongly believe that aftertouch controller is what you need and not velocity control because you can have
continuous real time control of sound level ±value.
In theory in PaSeries Sound editor you can't vary the velocity amount of an already played note , but there
are some complex OSC mode solutions via DNC2 to emulate this using other secondary duplicated OSCs.
I use similar techniques with very sophisticated KBD Sets were 3 Upper sounds are developed with DNC2 and
all are just a part of a simple musical instrument that consists of over 40 OSC with exclusive articulation duties.
If only sound level adjustment is that you want , then the easy way without involving complex OSC amp AMS editing
and foot controllers , is to use a direct FX like EQ/Compressor with neutral settings and assign gain value
send to AT source ±value according to your needs.
This way you can vary volume of a specific sound in a KBD Set of one note or chord (includind held down notes)
with just varying a key or overall keybed pressure.
The right sound architecture of a velocity multilayers accordion is strictly velocity control per note and expression
pedal assigned only at specific SOUND !

That is cleaver Antony. In the Kurzweil I know how I would do it, but I'm not familiar enough with Korgs controllers. Reverse velocity would only change the next notes, and aftertouch would be hard to control. Maybe you could use the ribbon?
I played accordians when I was young and know what you mean because you can control the overall volume by how hard you push on the bellows. I wonder how Roland accomplishes it. Roland makes Electronic Accordians because I saw somebody play one. Hmmmmmm.

Hi guys
Really appreciate you all taking the time to respond.
I know this is an odd request but when I first played the SN accordions on my Jupiter-80 I was blown away and couldn't figure out why at first - then realised that every new note I played "reset" the velocity providing an amazing "bellows" effect. I will get deep into my Integra-7 (which has the same sounds and modelling) and see if I can figure how they do it (not too hopeful!!). I absolutely love my Korgs but I must say that some of the behaviour modelling from Roland is astounding - simple things like realistic instrument glissando when bending the joystick (e.g. with flutes, oboes, trumpets, saxes etc..) - would love to be able to implement that on my Korgs too.
Anyhow, thanks again for your feedback - if I figure out anything I will definitely let you know...
