That’s 100% skill. I won’t take that away from him. But sounds like this, should be on the keyboards. I don’t think anyone would mind if the keyboards were sold for a little bit more with sounds like that. |

we are in agreement on immense skill.
I play violin parts frequently on my originals. I am nowhere near the performer in the above video, of course.
Kronos has decent violin sounds. Program named Few Bows is very good. There are 1 or 2 other solo violin Programs that are very good.
Liberal use of Fx also helps on violins. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Nice! He's familiar with oriental articulations and style. In fact he probably plays an ethnic string instrument beside keyboards. _________________ Sam

I think that even Mr. Rudess could learn something from him...Mr. Arif has all the skills and chops (speed!), but he doesn't need to use them constantly...pretty impressive... |

Very beautiful and nice.
It's a real performance to play with such realism.
It's easy to close eyes and imagine a violonist on stage ! What I "saw" then is rather an amplified violin or an electrical one. But not an acoustic real violiin.
Just here that, you will see what I mean : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wm08kMvb3U |

As a keyboard player for the last 56 years, I'm impressed with the technique; as a violinist that plays in a String Quartet for the last 15, I gotta say that sounded almost NOTHING like a violin.

I don't think this performance is about how a real Violin sounds at all. This is about a talented Keyboardist who's become very efficient with using the controllers to shape the sound in real time....and the result is very musical. _________________ Sam

Very very nice and impressive....
I am in awe of the talent of players like this - playing at super-sonic speeds with such purity and cleanliness.
From Oscar P to Mr Rudess - amazing.
I have much more become a "space and taste" person - very much loving the "less-is-more" players too particularly in Jazz and any soloing.
But maybe this is my feeble excuse for not having these super speed talents

Concur. But the OP asked why these types of sounds aren't in the Kronos, and several following posts about he sound.

Exactly! They were just talking about a keyboard sound...whether it's a string, wind or brass instrument, it's still a keyboard sound and the fact that he can make that sound shine with limited controllers is what's important here. Can you do that? _________________ Sam

NOTHING?
You really mean it? You really heard almost NOTHING like a violin in that performance?
NOTHING?? |
