The programs are in bank U-CC which I have set as an EXi bank. A few Combi's are in U-C. Giving these away for a few reasons... I didn't go the distance with the sounds. That is to say I did not: supply chords, program 8 KARMA scenes and add functions to the RT knobs or other various controllers, or add drum tracks. Also some of the patches are Richard Devine's sounds and stuff from the Korg LAC as well as recreations of a few youtube tutorials etc. Finally I left some patches in there that wont' be useful like a dozen or so drum synthesis patches and some programs won't do anything outside of the Combi they were designed for.
Since a few are based off custom GE's I've included those files as well.
Notes/references for a few of the sounds.
Programs:
000 observe the tone adjust assignments: https://youtu.be/OOSjwN5RDPU
027 weak vs strong velocity switches between two waveforms: https://youtu.be/vpfkqli0L4w
032 originally called Ice Field: https://youtu.be/In5_jBTRyfk
033 the left half of the kyboard starts the storm: https://youtu.be/VDqeqk6dZ9Q
034 This sound has a sweet spot from about D4 to A4 https://youtu.be/85H3aQPlkJ0
035 C2 and D2 control the footsteps through the snow: https://youtu.be/UKgI_e0u3us
042 Some very sophisticated LFO programming that allows two LFO's to speed up and slow down while remaining perfectly in sync with each other all while still locked to the tempo on average. This is difficult to achieve because LFO's can't have their frequency modulated if sync'd to bpm. https://youtu.be/g9W81zOlbPY
048 Possibly my favorite. VJS X is patched into both tempo and pitch for a record style effect! KARMA will even dynamically change note length with tempo just like most DAWs. The VJS does have it's volume control engaged to cross fade between the EXi timbres, with EXi1 more "dull" sounding to mimic the low fidelity of slow playback.
104 Proud of this one. It's a drum kit that's being generated live from two MS-20's. Each synth handles three drum sounds each that are mapped to different notes. The keys are literally changing parameters on the synth to make the different sounds. Very challenging to pull off. It was more of a technical exercise to see if it could be done. Obvs it'd be much easier to make an HD-1 drum kit.
B2 Kick sustain
C3 Kick
Db Clap
D Snare
Eb HH closed
E HH pedal
109 Fun with MOD-7 w/o KARMA https://youtu.be/JePVk79Q4Wo
115 & 116 I just use these to carry out experiments with controlled noise. Ignore.
123 If you hold a key down, a little noise burst will occur. When you lift your finger, the noise burst pans left and right like a ping pong delay. This patch uses no insert effects!
125 play the lower half of the keyboard and notice how one instance of polysix is using it's internal arpeggiator independent of KARMA controlling the other polysix. This was achieved by transposing KARMA notes way up the keyboard, even beyond what is capable in the Control tab by using a custom note map to transpose another octave up. Those notes are out of range of the first EXi. KARMA is effectively playing notes for the 2nd EXi's range but those notes are transposed back down via the Common tab.
126 I just love how this one turned out. Pay attention to the panning for BOTH timbres.
127 Wave sequencing with the Polysix? Yes thanks to vector synthesis.
Combi's:
000 One of the most sophisticated sounds I've ever made. Use the VJS X to "look" left and right to experience HRTF's. Entirely synthesized, no samples. https://youtu.be/rzNkShVJbco
001, 002 and 003 are Richard's sounds.
004 I was mimicking some FM8 tutorials by this designer Jonny Strinati. It's pretty cool that it doesn't use Karma and is entirely made up of instances of MOD-7. You'll need to unmute the different timbres to hear them. I suggest unmuting them one at a time while holding a lower note like an F3. https://youtu.be/d0mwdLhaW4A
005 The power of using audio-in as an excitation source for a comb filter. https://youtu.be/G1ehNaNNQ34
006 More STR-1 combs https://youtu.be/oY7GAjmY8Cg
007 lol some nonsense I never finished.
008 is just that noise combi that I use for experiments. Ignore.
Let me know if you have any questions and please enjoy exploring these patches! _________________ paypal.me/CharlesFerraro |
