I forgot this video about setting internal piano sounds on a live perspective :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLyDGWl337s

this video is divided in 4 parts.

This guy explains how to set a big piano sound in Program mode, Combi mode and how to set effects.

It's quite intersting to try.

Nice I posted that video in an earlier post!

Oh, yes, sorry ! I apologize !

There's also that free Salamander Piano (Yamaha C5). Has anybody made a soundset for Kronos? Reuben did it for the arranger keyboards. It sounds VERY good!

Great piano player, especially on a 61 notes light keyboard !

The sound itself is beautiful and the first sensation is ,good but all in all, after some minutes, seems too mechanical with always the same attack response. So finally, its a pretty sound, but not a very natural piano sound. It's only my sensation !

I think in order for the soundest to actually work with most Pa series, Reuben had to cut some of the sound properties. By far it is the best Piano sound I've personally played on any Korg Pa arranger keyboard. It's 50 times better than factory sounds. Too bad this hasn't been optimized for Kronos.

Original piano notes duration has been modified to be smaller and some velocity layers have been ommited.
If you really like it for for your Kronos you have two options :
1) Extract 4 velocity layers (8 mono layers) multisamples from Pa4X , import them in Kronos and create a dual OSC with all mono layers L-R.
2) Download original Free Salamander Grand Piano V3 use the decent 16 velocity layers SF2 of 24bit and DYI for Kronos the same way.

Thanks for the tips. I'm mostly a home player, so I just midi the Kronos to the Pa4x which is good enough for casual YouTube recordings. I brought it up for those who are looking for small size and free alternatives. By far it's the best free Piano shared on Korg forums. It's very playable and sounds great for what it is.

Yes I know , a skilled pianist though !
My Info was also for those who want to give a try on this.

By the way I'd like to clarify something about non-looped samples as in pianos :
There is no meaning in small or huge samples size for a piano concerning Ram space under streaming from disk !
For instance , two pianos with 5 velocity layers sampled per semitone , one with shortened/looped samples of 200Mb
and another one with natural note duration (40 sec) samples of 1,5 GB , are consuming exactly the same amount of
Ram space when are in streaming from disk mode.

Definitely! I wish they would make this disk streaming feature available for the arranger keyboards as well.

At least for Kronos (and possibly future Korg workstations) you and other developers get to create good libraries without having to worry about that little ram space.

The strange thing in this case is that Pa4X/Pa1000 are already using streaming from disk mode but only for factory samples !
Last year we were expecting for an OS update for this feature to be applied also for user samples ,
but it didn't happened so if not a Pa5X is intended to come soon in circulation , we're still hoping for a dynamic future Pa4X OS
update for this , concerning mostly Genos competition.

I use the "Saturday In The Park" preset program from the Kronos2. I'll take that and run it through a basic chorus (at about 20%). It cuts through great for cover band gigs, both for heavier piano rock (think Journey, Toto, or REO Speedwagon), along with more sensitive things (like Sara Bereilles).
