|
|
I've never got this error on the many years old original Kronos ,but have been getting it on this brand new K2 (latest OS) enough times that makes me wonder if there's something wrong with it?
This is the message:
System startup failed
Please turn the KRONOS off, wait, and then turn it back on.
(If any USB devices are connected, please disconnect them first.)
Most of the time, it's not connected to any USB device. So I turn it off, turn it back on and it works fine. But why? _________________ Sam

If it's still under warranty, is it easier to take it back?
You said your old one ran fine so can we assume the electricity in your place is nice and clean? I get that message on mine on start up if:
a/ It's too cold. I live up north and I need to let it warm to room temp before I fire it up at live gigs.
b/ I don't use a clean power source. I run a Furman Power Conditioner on the hydro. If I don't, and I'm at home in the middle of nowhere with my crappy, dirty electrical system; it fails every time. |

I live in Los Angeles, so I get to wear short sleeves all year round just about. I also have a clean power source that my workstations are connected to...including the K 61.
The thing is, once I turn it off and turn it back on, everything is fine. Even if i leave it on all day.
It's barely 3 or 4 months old. I have a 2 year warranty on it. _________________ Sam

It’s too new to fail. And fooling around inside is unnecessary on brand new
Swap it for a new one _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

I'm a home player. My keyboards -certainly the 88 key ones- NEVER EVER leave my home studio. In fact I haven't even moved it at all. It's been sitting on the same stand ever since! Oh man, I really didn't want to be bothered with a SweetWater exchange. Looks like there isn't a logical explanation for this. It has to be done... _________________ Sam

It is inconvenient and disappointing.
You said brand new. So that tells me " Factory sealed "
To keep it , while it continues to fail at start-up is the worst option.
a New +$3000 keyboard should be perfect. ok, 99.9% perfect might be acceptable. This is much below 99.9% _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Yeah it's a shame. I've never bought used or referbished pro audio gears in my life. Just sent an email to SW. _________________ Sam

I talked to SW and they agreed for an exchange, even though it's been over 30 days. It's just too new to be throwing error messages at me already! I don't like the idea but it had to be done. _________________ Sam

Cool. I've heard/read the Sweetwater is really good about that sort of thing. Agreed. A little too early in the game to have that sort of thing going on. Hoping #2 goes good for you hmm..that might have been said wrong... |

lol! Yeah, that would be my first #2 experience. No more Korgstipation please!
That's another reason why I don't buy used gears. I would much rather pay the top price and have the dealer deal with it. I'm not into buy and sell at all. If I like the gear, it'll stay with me for a long time. _________________ Sam

Going for the 2nd round! If it happens again, there must be something wrong with the latest batches of K2. What happens to the purchased libraries from the official store in cases like this?

I would be really surprised if you or anyone got 2 defects in a row. Think good thoughts.
Are you referring to 3rd party samples you purchased at the Korg shop ?
I think you might need to email/call Korg support , explain exactly what happened.
They will issue you new auth #'s for free.
Its a manual process and I think thats they way Korg handles it. Let us know, for sure. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8
