So long as you take something which is PC6400 and DDR2, then it should work. _________________

Just wanted to mention that I opened up my recently bought Kronos X to have a look inside -- and noticed that the motherboard looks different from all the inside pictures I have seen here so far. Especially the RAM »sticks«. They have the form factor usually found in laptops and are mounted lying flat on the motherboard, one atop the other. Forgot to take a picture, though... |

Yes, there are a few differences:
Code: | Kronos Kronos X
RAM = 2 Go (DIMM x 1) 3 Go (SO-DIMM x 2)
SSD = 30 Go 62 Go
Carte-mère = Intel D510MO Intel D525MWV
Processeur = Intel Atom 1.66 Ghz Intel Atom 1.8 Ghz |
The RAM sticks will look different indeed. But the Kronos X is already maxed out so you shouldn't have to buy RAM for the X, unless it's to change a defective module. _________________

I don't see many reports of specific types of RAM failing to work. Besides, it has been stated that as long as you have the correct specs, it should be ok.
FWIW, I purchased a pair of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 Memory (CM2X2048-6400C5) a year ago for my orginal Kronos 73. I replaced the original 2G Hynix with the Corsair pair. All seemed great while I played a few gigs with no issues. However, I began noticing it would shut down after being be left on for a while (over night). Then occasionally, it would randomly shut down at gigs. Not good. I checked proper power, and ensured memory and other components had not become dislodged. Finally, I purchase another 2G Hynix to match the original, and replaced the Corsair. After three months, I am glad to report I have had several shows and long studio sessions with no random shut downs. (Crossing fingers.) |

Maybe it's already been said, but to my surprise my new Kronos2 88 came with a single 4gb stick installed. Perfect! |

Not sure this has been clearly answered so here goes:
The Kronos has a cut down 32-bit version of Linux. It is because it is a 32 Bit version that it can only memory reference <4G of RAM.
If Korg ever releases a 64-bit version, which personally I can never imagine they would until Krono 3 or whatever the next generation is, only then could the system see and reference 4GB of RAM or more.
I deliver/install computer (Servers) systems with over 16TBytes of RAM so once they release a 64 but version the sky is the limit. _________________ Korg Krono 2011 |
