I have a class compliant breath controller with a Kenton USB Host I would like to try. I know I have to match the midi channel to a lead voice, but what else does an old non-techy have to know?

Hey Bernie
Sorry you aren't getting much help here.
I have never used a BC but have often wanted to try.
Could have helped you in the past with my Kurzweil keyboard but can't advise much re PA4X
I am guessing that you just need to match the MIDI channel but not 100% sure if that is all!!??
I guess you've already tried that???
Cheers

Hey Pete,
Thanks for chiming in anyway. We can always count on you. I tried it once, but might have gotten something wrong. This is just a midi devise set up to send midi messages. In my case, just a note on/off would do. It is no different than a master kb, I can't hurt anything, so will keep trying.

If you have the latest firmware, you can connect any class compliant USB device directly into one of the PA4x USB Host ports, no need to use the Kenton host. Page 13 of the latest manual (https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/manual/0/516/2572) says:
Quote: | Use this connector to connect an USB memory device, like an USB pendrive (HOST- F), or other musical instruments to be used as controllers. |
Which breath controller are you using?
|

I don't know if anything has changed recently, but last time I checked the Pa4x was not a class compliant midi device. _________________ Sam

I am using the DM48 harmonica midi controller, a class compliant device, that works wonderfully with my Ketron SD40 module and ipad apps. Since I use the Pa4x for everything else, I thought I would lighten my load.
I think the problem was user error. I plugged into the midi in, using the Kenton, but changed my Pa4x midi in config and it works fine. The only thing now is to disengage the Upper 2 volume from my volume pedal. I want to control it with my DM48. _________________ pa4x

Problem with volume fluctuation solved with using cc2 breathe controller rather than cc11 expression. It works like a charm and very expressive for wind type instruments.

This changed recently. I'm using it with a TEControl breath controller. Before the firmware upgrade it did not work. After the upgrade it works, like it did already on the Kronos. |
