Can this be done? I'd like to sing along with a song while in Style mode so I can test out the various vocal harmony settings.

I also noticed this vey strange?
What is the point of assigning a song to a style if you can't play it ??
Can anyone help

Thanks

Whilst I have not tried this myself perhaps its worth trying to convert the mp3 into a Midi file and let the system import the MIDI as a new Style

I have imported MIDI files and the system has converted them into a Style with no real problems,

I was wondering if it's possible to convert a MP3 to MIDI?
Do you know any software capable to do this conversion?
Thanks

There is software such as Melodyne that does a good job but is pretty expensive but maybe the trial version will be enough for a one off project to see if it works for you.

There are also online convertors such as Bear that may do what you seek.

I must add that I have not tried these myself, they are just some I found via a quick search.

I usually use a commercial MIDI if I want to add a new Style to my PA.

Hope this helps

You can change vocal settings in song mode, too. Allowing a song to be saved with a style makes it possible for you to have the STS sounds you like for that song.

I have found that converting WAV/MP3 to MIDI is futile, at best. I have tried on my own original music and found them to be less than satisfying. Maybe Korg can add functionality of combining the Style and Song modes together so they could work with each other.

Being able to find the tempo of an MP3 is not hard and you could sync a style to find the tempo of the MP3.

There is also chord recognition that could be implemented. I am not even sure if the PA4X can do this or not. They would likely implement this functionality in the higher models first.

I absolutely agree about the Commercial MIDI files. If you research the web for MIDI files, the free ones are of varying quality. The downfall of commercial MIDI's is that they are not free Smile

What I have found with free MIDI files is that there is often work that needs to be done, or the programmer did not accurately play the song the right way.

I have A LOT of MIDI files that were free and very few of them were good enough to play right 'out of the box'. Minimally, I had to change the sounds begin used from GM sounds to factory sounds on my PA700. There were some that I would have to completely redo a track or two. I do not find this much of a problem because whilst playing in the new tracks, I became that much more familiar with the songs themselves. It was a learning experience of the song for me Smile

Some songs to not come off well as a GM song, either. I have some Led Zeppelin songs, that because of the guitar work of Jimmy Page, do not translate well. Kashmir is a great example. I cannot get the guitar tracks to sound right because I cannot get the distortion right on the backing guitar tracks. I am still playing around with that one. Additionally, the creator of the MIDI file forgot to put the gong sound on the first note of the song. That was an easy fix but the guitars are not believable enough for me to play it live...at least not yet.

What might be fun is that a group be started for brand/model specific users to share MIDI files that they have programmed/modified to work on a singular instrument. That way, we could use the similar MIDI files across the PA700 (or whatever other model was used - although, I suspect that anything created on the PA700 may work on the PA1000 or PA4X and maybe the other way).

I have over 100 MIDI files programmed and set for my PA700. I could save them as a SET which would include the custom piano samples (from Rueben) and the sound positions in my User bank.

Grace,
Harry

These are all files I have edited to suit the Korg Pa and I have added lyrics and chord prompts that can be viewed by pressing the Lyrics button.
These are primarily tailored around adding some of your own accompaniment and singing. If the keys don't suit your voice then I suggest using the Songbook Edit Book2 function to change the Master Transpose.

Here are some samples of what I have done. Everything in here has a lead track except for Reason to Live. I had posted this link in another post and did not play the lead guitar part so I could show how the song bed sounded without a lead...

I also have many more that I am working on as well...
