Aren’t these amazingly beautiful instruments? It’s the imperfection and randomness of analog sound that creates this incredible depth and soul that has never been achieved through digital means.
Building analog instruments is not trivial. Just finding analog engineers in today’s time, recreating these legacy chips and the extensive calibration process in manufacturing is a huge challenge.
Being close to 60 now, I enjoy spending lots of my time bringing many of these classic instruments back. Commercially not very smart but indescribable fun:-)
Thank you for helping us in this crazy adventure and if there are any experienced analog engineers out there who like to join in, just drop us a PM or contact me on LinkedIn.

That's often been a bit of a problem with Behringer, you have to add months to the projected release dates in order to get a realistic picture of when something will be available.
That being said, Behringer's take on the Solina Strings Ensemble looks really great. |

Most things Behringer shows are pre production models that never go into production..
This one is outright uggly.. _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

Thinking something is uggly, doesn’t mean you hate it..
No, with the real wood cabinet the original had some undefined charm in the perspective at that time... this unit however witouth the real wood looks cheap and plasticky ... however looks don’t say much about functionallity, quallity amd beaty of the sound.. _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

WHY???
I had an original ARP String Ensemble. It has a very limited palette of tones. It's a "one-trick pony" basically. Yes, the sound is iconic for certain (retro) things, but to me, that is the perfect reason to own a plug-in that does it, or have a set of solina samples on your Kronos. I can't imagine buying this dedicated unit... _________________ Stephen Kay - KARMA Developer • Karma-Lab - karma-lab.com

As I've posted before
The value of VST or plug ins is close to ZERO. While the value of vintage hardware synths is always rising
And the Arp Solina String Ensemble is a highly sought after synth.
For nearly 40 years we haven't had proper string ensembles
So glad that string machines will come back at last!

It's called "flavour of the month". Roland redid their string machine, Waldorf have a digital and an analogue string machine now and there's some others too I think.
It would be nice if one of the companies focusing on the analogue thing at the moment could just include a string voice using the octave division method that produces that 'vintage' sound instead of milking the musicians who want that sound as well as the thick, warm and fluffy analogue sound. _________________ Stuff I'm using: Umm right now, well there's a Volca Drum, a Micro Freak, an ADX-1, a Pulse, a Blofeld, a UNO Drum, KeyStep/Beatstep Pro/Keystep Pro (one of each), a Circuit, a LiveTrak L-12 and this nonsense: The Brief-case as it was about a bit over a year ago (the the complete ridiculous GAS monster collection here)and here |

I have to agree with you. Behringer should have gone for the ARP Omni - a far more versatile keyboard. _________________ Synth DIY Projects |
