Hey I have just bought my first pa4x, the keyboard has not been updated since new, its still with 1.2.0 version, and its not possible to update it to the new version, I have tried 2.0.0 and 3.0 and 3.1 versions but non of them works, do u guys have any Idea what the problem might bee. Confused

Hi,

two possibillities :

1st : You´ve chosen the wrong model ( PA4X INTERNATIONAL, PA4X MUSIKANT, PA4X ORIENTAL have different files to be installed )

2nd : You´ve chosen the wrong version. It´s important to see if you need the "PKG"-Version or the "UPD"-Version.

Ok, there´s a 3rd one : You´re using a MAC and tried to open the pkg-File in the MAC.

Please give us the detailed error-message shown in the PA4X display!

I have chosen the right model, and It need PKG file, but still dosnt work, I have tried everything.

Hi Moteza420,

This is a great forum, and you will find lots of people here who are very helpful.

I would suggest you list every step you have followed, starting from how you checked that PKG was what was needed, what you downloaded (you must install at least 2.0.0 before attempting NEXT 3), how USB was formatted, and any error messages.

The more info, the better that someone can help.

you have 1.2.0 version now ,,, how about just try to update to OS 1.24 ..
this is on the korg web also ..

what are the words say on the screen .. when you update ,, does it tell you to wait or do not remover the USB ..
or go thourgh one step at a time and wright it step down ... just maybe you are missing something ... maybe ..

If you are using the slow connection method you need to download all 5/6 parts (depending on model) in order to update and put the in the same folder inside a usb stick unzipped !!You have most probably downloaded the first 500mb file and trying with that which will not work of course!!

A friend of mine had the same problem a while ago when he could not update to OS 2.0 or any other version above the fabric default one OS 1.2

We tried everything as explained on the Korg website in the end we had succes only by downloading all the requried pieces from the OS 2.0 and unrar them on the main directory of USB which should contain only 1 file in the end not 5or6 pieces.

1 - To be more clear you open on the computer the RAR archive Pa4X_OS2_PKG.zip with the WINRAR program or any other archiver.
2 - Inside open the folder Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg
3 - Inside the folder Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg open/extract all contents somewhere on the desktop
4 - Open the Folder and inside open the first file Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg.001 and extract/unrar it on the main directory of USB it should be only 1 file in the end around 2.53Gb Pa4X_OS_and_Resources_v200.pkg

Now try again the update procedure from the Keyboard it should go through. For some reasons some old PA keyboards the merging of large archives corrupt the update progress so the only solution is by extracting and making ready the main update file on computer.

THANX A LOT TO ALL OF YOU GUYS, BUT IT STILL DOSNT WORK.

I tried to install v2.0.0 I load the file and keyboard want me to press format & reset, when I press that the keyboard restart and will continue the update but after 30 sec. it freez and giv me this massege:

"SYSTEM UPDATE FAIL PLEASE TURN THE INSTRUMENT OFF"

DUBY2: I cant find those files, 1.2.4 or 1.2.2 send me the download link please if you have it.

musiccankill: I have tried to download all the files, copy them to the USB but it freez as I explained earlier.

kleant: I also tried what u said but still dosnt work.

look like korg remover the old file , they just go back to ( OS2)
but i have them here if you want to try it out ..
or some other people might want to keep so old system files ...
